Preliminary 2014 Ticketing Info

We know you've been awaiting information about tickets for Burning Man 2014, but the plan hasn't been finalized. Why the delay? We haven't finalized agreements with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the 2014 permit.

So while we don't have all of the details, here's some info to help you plan:
1) There will be a Pre-Sale, but it will not happen until mid-January. As in the past, this sale will only offer the highest priced tickets.
2) The full ticketing plan for 2014 will be announced in early January on this page.
3) While details are still pending, our intention is to repeat the basic process and structure from 2013: all of our ticket sales will require pre-registration through the Burner Profile system, there will be a Pre-Sale, a Directed Group Sale, an Individual Sale, a late-season OMG Sale, and we will again offer the Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP) and our Low Income Ticket Program. We are also striving to keep ticket prices as in line with 2013 as possible. While all of this is still subject to final changes, know that this is our aim.

In December of 2012 the Pre-Sale designated a percentage of the income to the nonprofit Burning Man Project. By not having this sale in December of 2013 we're missing the opportunity to make this useful year-end donation to the Project. The leadership of the LLC are in the final stages of negotiating and completing the transaction that will make Black Rock City, LLC a subsidiary of the Project. Now more than ever the Project needs your support. Please consider making a donation to the Project as you look at your year-end contributions. You can donate online here.

Cheers for this information Trilobyte, do you know how we can pay for the tickets when they go on sale as me and my friends have never been before, it will be our first timethis year and some of my friends are asking whether it as to be paid by debit or credit card?

I can only go by the past, but tickets are purchased online and paid by credit card. The tickets for overseas burners are held at the willcall window and picked up when you arrive.

I can only assume that things will be similar this year.

Just an FYI that the website would not take my American Express credit card last year. I had to use an alternate card.

Any major tips for us virgin burners?

My one tip is to not do Will Call if you can avoid it. I did it once and it was just more time on top of an already amazingly trying queue in the car. You can make some nice connections there while waiting, but I was ready to to do two things by the time I got through the line. 1) Set up a tent. 2) Sleep in it. We didn't even stake ours down that first morning.

My other tip is if you don't do WIll Call, don't forget your ticket. Story Time:
A burner from LA got all the way to Sacramento when he realized he'd left his ticket at home. Thanks to Social Networking, said ticket got into someone from my camps hands (in LA) to meet him at Will Call despite the fact that they were not remotely acquainted. (+! for technology). Anywho, this poor bastard sat at Will Call for about 8 hours with a sign saying, "Are you so and so?". Like 4 people came up and said, "I'm not him, but he's on his way... last I heard he was in [insert city name here]". Poor guy. He finally got his ticket at about noon on Monday, even though he was one of the first in.

In fairness, the information published weeks before ticket registration opened up or ticket sales happened were pretty clear about the accepted forms of payment. Please make sure you read the info carefully.
