We got some rain! only about half an inch, it seems, but still......it's the driest year on record already, and we're only half way through the rain season. So, anything helps.

I'm rendering lard this morning. I had the butcher save me all the fat off the pig I had done last summer and froze it.........Certain things, cooked in good, natural and pure lard are the best!!

Thanks Elorrum....I lurk here a lot, never seem to feel like I have much to add. Been a tough week, Mom died 5 days ago, so it is starting to mellow out. The hard part is the "Mom dreams". Got 2 hours sleep Friday night before she woke me up at 1AM. Monster drinks and coffee, things still need to get done. On a good note, I have produced 27 pounds of deer jerky this week, plenty to go around at TTITD this year. Things are starting to get better, thanks to you burners here.....

I'm glad to hear that things are starting to mellow out, mgb... I'm really sorry to hear about your mom. May the sadness fade and happy memories remain.

It's been a whirlwind week for me, with ups and downs and lefts and rights... I caught some kind of plague, but am feeling much better now and am caught back up on rest I think. I also got the chance to get my preliminary plans all written up (as opposed to the accumulated ideas, notes, and scribbles). I'm waiting for my sweetie to get back home, then we'll do drinks and nibbles and go through them together before I roll 'em out to campmates, I'm really excited for this year.
