Virgin Burner from NorCal Looking Foraward to 2014
Hey there. Yes, you, reading my n00b profile. Welcome to stuff about Kelsey.
That's my name, yep. I'm from a small town in northern California, and looking to expand my horizons. Do stuff. Do things that are different than what I am used to, things that stimulate my senses and get me out of my comfort zone. I'm 22 years old, 23 in April, and on a bit of a journey. Suppose all of us are, in one way or another.
You see, I just realized that I can be whoever I want to be. I have the ability to change, to go with the flow instead of struggling so painfully within the current. Que sera, sera and all that jazz. Anyway.
I am taking steps toward taking care of myself this year; spiritually, physically, emotionally. I've started attending a 5 Rhythms group in Chico, California, twice a week, along with yoga, zumba, and healthier, raw-er eating. Needless to say, my body's transforming, and I can't help but notice it was only after my mind did. I've began toning, shedding weight, letting old thoughts go... a metamorphosis, if you will. I just...feel better.
That was a month ago. I know, what's up with me and not having a New Year's Resolution like everyone else?
Regardless, I am looking forward to 2014 Burning Man as an interesting addition to my year. I am coming in expecting nothing, mostly because I feel the very nature of Burning Man is going to surprise me despite what I feebly attempt to predict. I look forward to unbridled expression of myself, and seeing that in others. I look forward to meeting people and experiencing them, whatever the experiences may be.
Another thing? I may be going at this alone, but that doesn't mean I won't be prepared, or have a community to ask questions to thanks to the world-wide web. Thanks for taking the time to read.
TL;DR: 22 YEAR OLD REALIZES THE WORLD IS FULL OF BEAUTY AND SHE IS PART OF IT, AND SO IS BURNING MAN.

Welcome.
Well, you can expect there will be dust in some amount. At least one day too hot and one night too cold. Spontaneous something, be it dancing or grilled cheese or smiles. A cranky moment when you hit the wall and need a drink of water, and possibly a nap.

Welcome to ePlaya! We have a pretty big burner group here in Sacramento, you might want to check out http://sacvalleyspark.org/
Life's a bitch, then you go to Burning Man - Unjonharley
We welcome the stranger, but that doesn't mean we have to like them, nor they us, and that's alright. - AntiM

Hey, thanks for the replies, guys. <3
I'll definitely check out the Sac group, thanks for the link!
I also believe I have another dedicated friend who is planning on going, I'm going to get him to register for this site.

PS - My typo, it hurts.

Pretty good introduction, kiddo. Welcome! There are burners in Chico, at least one of which sometimes frequents this board -- I'll remember his moniker eventually.
Read the Survival Guide, sign up for Jack Rabbit Speaks, participate in some of our discussions, save up money, decide on your art and other participation/contribution. Search and read old threads here. Shrug off any and all snark.

I read the Survivor's Guide, First Timers Guide, and subscribed to the newsletter! I'm ship shape there. I've been lurking about the forums, too. I suppose it looks like I am on the right track. <3
