From Russia with Love - First timer

Post by RusRus » Wed Jan 15, 2014 8:50 am

Hey guys!

I'm a 21 y/o guy from Russia, currently going to college in the US - and recently discovered (atleast online) burning man! This year I want to attend (hey, you cant blame me for using my student visa for something more fun! :D ).

Not 100% sure on what to share here, but if you guys have any questions i can answer basically anything :)

Looking forward to meeting some of you guys at BM this year!

Welcome to eplaya, Rusrus. Sounds like a perfect use of a student visa to me!

Don't forget to read the first timer's guide and the survival guide, both available on the Burning Man website. Get your basics covered. There's a lot to read here in the forums if you have questions. If you can't find your answer after searching, feel free to ask - we can be sarcastic but we generally mean well.

PS - remember that Burning Man aims to promote participation rather than simple "attendance"!

When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

Oh yeah, im definitely coming for participation rather than attendance!
I read the first times guide (atleast skimmed it for now, gonna do a more detailed run through later).
I always heard that even surviving at BM is a fun challenge in and of itself, so i figured after a year in the army i should be more or less ready to survive a week there :D

If you're familiar with camping, you'll be fine. Getting a ticket and the logistics of getting to/from the site may be trickier, but, hey, tens of thousands of us hippies do it every year.
