los angeles plur kid to burner transformation

Post by battle_pixie » Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:41 pm

hi everyone! i am jessica (jessie the coconut in the rave scene) ive entertained the idea of going to buring man for a few years. late last year though i ran into an old work friend and brough up the idea of going. next thing i knew we were shaking hands and agreeing we'd both do whatever we could to make it out this year.
i'm looking forward to the survival part of setting up our camp like structures and lighting. i look forward to learning alot from you all.

Welcome! Jump on in. Lots of survival and goofy ball stuff to ponder on these boards

Welcome to eplaya, jessie.

Some unsolicited advice: try your best not to expect a "transformation." Drop as many of your expectations for Burning Man as possible, with the exception that it'll be hot and cold and dry and dusty. To that end, perhaps consider not watching videos and not looking at photos for this first year. Definitely make sure you've got the basics covered (Read the survival guide!), even get hyped about your personal projects (fantastic clothing, your "structures and lighting," etc.), but try not to put the event on too high a pedestal. It's just a big party in the desert.

A f*cking amazing community in the desert, one that I'd hate to miss, but still, check your expectations :)

When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

Welcome to ePlaya! I'll be a first-timer in 2014 also, but coming from the other coast (New Hampshire). Definitely spend some time reading through the forums. Lots of great information and folks willing to answer questions.

Welcome welcome! 8)

NO EXPECTATIONS, yeah. Be mentally open, physically prepared and spiritually awake and you will be transformed. Over and over and over again. Just not in the way you expected to be. 8) You don't know what you don't know, until you know it.
