Bob belonged to the board way before I did. You'd have to ask Doc and maybe the captain... or Geekster if he pops in again. (You won't realize this, because they did a reset on the board in Sept 2003 and so his join date looks like it's then.) He hadn't been on the board much before two years ago for a long, long time. So, I suspect that something was up in his life that isn't anymore. For instance, he mentioned a young child, I think. So--and I am totally making this up so don't pretend I know a damn thing about it--he could have had to sit up with the kid and dipping into eplaya was the best thing he found to do during that time... I'm not expecting to see much of him again. I'll admit it was nice while it lasted.

Junglesmacks got married last year, & with all that was going on, he & his lovely wife skipped the 2013 Burn. I imagine that it was hard to watch everyone prep when you're not going. (I didn't ask him, but the years that I had to miss the Burn I didn't like watching people get ready either). They might be back this year. I've seen him logged in a little. Fingers crossed!

Oh, and Littlebird stopped visiting after she and BBadger got to arguing, which was unfortunate. I like both of them, but they may be too different to get along online. If they'd met in person they probably would've had a fine conversation.

Pretty much everyone gets along great on the playa when they meet for real even if the didn't here in the semi-anonymous keyboard world. I can't remember anyone not being great in person.

He was actually living in the cargo trailer - turned mini home that he brought to the playa, so he was totally mobile.

Ah, so that was it! I want to see those LED pants in person this year. I thought I would see them across the playa and find him while he was strutting around, but even the brightest stuff just isn't that bright a kilometer away.

It's easy to fall into arguments online particularly with people you haven't met in person, the keyboard anonymizes (is that a word, Elliot?) people the same way their cars do. We all know how a good percentage of people drive like selfish assholes.
The same person who rudely cuts you off and almost makes you crash on the way to the grocery store will politely say "Excuse me, after you, I'm sorry" if you both arrive at the checkout stand at the same time with your shopping carts.
Then on the way home it's every man for himself again and what's behind you is not important!

Once you meet someone in person on the playa you rarely argue on eplaya anymore, but beforehand it's way too easy. Everyone is just another car.

I'm actually in favour of inventing new words. It is misuse of existing ones that causes misunderstandings.

Now: Could somebody who is You-Tube knowledgeable please search for an old Disney cartoon where Goofy portrays both "Mr. Walker" and "Mr. Wheeler", then post that. I have it on VCR, so I will watch it now and see what it is really named.
