I drive in from Cedarville...traffic is negligible until we merge with the line coming out of Gerlach. I time my drive to hit the playa access road at 6 PM on Sunday. Takes me about 4 hours or so to get thru Greeters. That 4 hours is one of the best times on the playa after a long drive...decompressing with a whole bunch of equally jazzed people!

+1 to what's been said about arriving early. I've had campmates get caught up in that and spent time in D lot, and it added several hours to an already-long process. In the last few years, the BLM has allowed Burning Man to open the gates at 6PM on Sunday evening - while nothing has been made official for 2014, we are hoping that will be the case again this year. So plan your arrival accordingly - if you're traveling through Reno, estimate that you'd be leaving Reno for BRC no sooner than 4PM.
If you're able (either because you're coming light or because your campmates have organized a truck to haul gear), consider taking the Burner Express bus. There's minimal traffic coming in (separate lane), and then the way it worked last year (and I expect will be repeated) is it takes people to a depot camp at 6:00 & G in the city. From there, you can catch a shuttle that goes along the boulevard G from 3:00 to 9:00. It can stop on G along the way, which makes it more convenient for getting to your camp destination. The bus also has a separate lane coming back out again, which spares you what can be even worse traffic during Exodus (if you're planning to leave on Monday).
