Hi everyone!
I'm a first timer at burning man and extremely excited to start my first adventure there this summer. I'm currently a student in NYC, and looking to see if there are any others out there coming from the NYC area. I'm still trying to figure out logistics as to what camp to stay at, so if you've got any suggestions, or are in the city and want to say hi, let me know!
Hope to see you all out there soon,
-Christina

Welcome to ePlaya, Christina! There are lots of burners from NY, so they will be along after a while. It is kind'a the quiet winter "off" season on ePlaya now.

Re: Escape from New York (newbie)
New York has a very active bunch of burners. I suggest getting on the NY regional announce list see http://regionals.burningman.com/regionals/north-america/new-york/
There is a weekly burner happy hour not far from your school.
Edit: Welcome to eplaya.

Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Welcome! Definitely check out local events and get to know others from the area. There are tons of NYC burners on the playa at a slew of different camps.

Welcome!!!
Good advice all around so far. I'm of the bridge and tunnel crowd, (NJ) but if you need any advice or help with anything, let me know. I've got a whole 2 burns under my belt so I am fully qualified to tell you absolutely nothing.

welcome to eplaya! I'm from NYC too, this year will also be my first burn.
I've been hanging around with the NYC community for a few years now. Have you been out to any fundraisers/parties in the area? These are the places where I've "found my peoples"
You might want to join the NY mailing list to see whats going on year round. See link below
