How to put up pictures, etc. in the temple
I know that people will often put pictures and messages in the temple before the burn. Both my parents have passed, and I would like to place a picture of them.
I was wondering how people attach them... Pins and staples seem wrong, because they will be left in the ashes but I doubt tape would stick very well.
What do you suggest?

Chewing gum?
My guess is that pins and staples are thin enough that the fire scale would render them ash as well.

Used to put up posters by putting a daub of toothpaste at each corner.
They never came down.

Maybe it's not ideal, but I used a staple gun. Other people used it too. *shrug* I figure it's better to have the metal in the burn pile that my pictures and whatnot turn into moop.

Fishy's probably right.. a fire of that magnitude would likely burn them up too.

They use a bed of decomposed granite under the man and temple which is then scooped out and disposed of after the burn. Any metal that survives, (staples likely don't) is scooped out with the granite.
Staples and small nails are fine to use to hold pictures.

A slight digression: Please remember that although it may honor a memory, the Temple Guardians discourage the use of candles and other sources of flame; the thing is built to burn, after all.
I'm not sure about incense or sage, other than it being a huge irritant to my eyes. Perhaps you can use it if you're clearly watching carefully?

When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

Blue painter's tape works well. Have seen jute string long enough to loop around things or knotted at the end to catch in a crack between boards.

Next-door camp member hung a wedding dress.
With a huge spike.
Almost railway size.

Yeah, I had the distinct feeling that the spike wasn't chosen to prevent the dress from blowing away.
The look on her face was one I can't describe, but it definitely included 'don't ask'.
