Hello Dear All !

so glad you are mending, Yggy
maybe add "Bio-Kur" probiotic when you finish

Trilo , I appreciate the glimpse into your world and would like to know how to access to the beginning

Rhino, as always so informative that I sent on some of your words to my new naval son-in law making it possible we could one day talk about his world of drone

Elliot , your game is always a step up

OMG I love the Olympics.

Yeah, I'm loving the facade concept - we've been taking that approach to 'art up' the frontage for our camp for years, I've really enjoyed it.

@aserendipity - the easiest way would be to check out the Second Life web site. The software's free and so is creating an account and going online. Exploring and playing around is free, it only 'costs' you if you buy the in-game currency to make purchases and stuff. Getting into 3D design is a bit more complicated... it's a big, crazy subject... You could start by poking around with a couple free apps, Sketchup and Blender come to mind. Sketchup is easier, but Blender is more powerful. Then it seems like there are programs in every price range up into the stratosphere. Cinema4D starts at $1000, and I think the full on 'studio' version goes for over $3K. It's a tangled web, getting into the bigger and spendier apps also leads you inter bigger and beefier computer hardware... But even if you never go down that rabbit hole, playing around in SL and sketchup is a lot of fun. :)

.
One of the elements of the camp facade will be this wall-hanging, which measures over 4' x 6'. Just picked it up today, right here in town. Will probably be on the far left.

Gee's Elliot, You went into over kill.. I was suggesting one arch.. Go for it.. Its going to look great..

I have a monkey hut up in the yard.. It is so nice I'm leaving it for a green house..

In the mean time I can make a facade.. I'll keep it simple.. One large arch with a arched window on each side..

Elliot, I bet you could using a sponge over brush technique. Gives it the blurry/verigated look and
doesn't have to be perfect...

+100

You could have a lot of fun with this. And it's surprisingly quick to do. A quick pencil sketch, paint, sponge.
And authentic looking interior/exterior details are easy to fake with paint, even using stencils.

Expectations are rising.
Yes, texture by sponge sounds right. But with so much else to get done, I will not spend eternity on this. "Good enough" will have to do.

Greetings, all.

Three-day weekend for me with the President's Day holiday on Monday. I'll avoid all the 'white sales' because they make me think that more snow is on the way. BUT, not right now. Thank goodness.

Friday, before I left work, I finished the 3rd edition of my horizontal boring training manual. I was SO stoked. I updated all of the presentations in it, and even included stuff from 2013 and 2014 in it. THAT's up to date. My employer will cover the publication costs, and eventually it might appear on the Internet. I don't know. I've already trained several hundred people with it in-house. We'll see what happens.

Shift focus. About two years ago, I was asked by the American Society of Civil Engineers to be a reviewer for one of their publications, and I accepted. Well, when you are asked to do something for no pay, they normally ask you to do it again. Well, I'm on my 8th review now. Fun to see what university researchers are doing.

Greetings to magic marty, patsch, MDFR, ygmir, Elliot, moonrise, aserendipity, elorrum, lucky, and unjon Harley!

Happy belated Valentine's Day!

I had to furlough on Friday so I got a four day weekend, which means it's half over.
Reno had two record highs in row....69 yesterday and 71 today, according to KOLO news. 49 right now according my Coke thermometer. The wind, dust and blowing sand though were terrible. 90mph on the Galena creek bridge. Supposed to continue til 4:00am.

I swear to god the website said the art grant application closed at 11:59PM today, not AM....

It even drove me to here to see if anyone else was whining about it. Turns out no, so my guess is that I just can't read.

Which brings us to today's Sunday Sermon. In Europe, I grew up with the 24 hour clock, like "military time", where 11 p.m. = 23:00. Impossible to mistake.

Hospitals in the US used to do that also -- and with only one rotation of the dial (Midnight straight down) -- maybe they still do?

Anything is better than the tiny distinction of "p" vs "a". But will these lazy Americans make any effort to improve their society? ....!

Sermon over. Go to the picnic. :D

But, I did get the rest of my tulip and gladiola bulbs planted, so, am hoping for a nice crop this year.

Morning Elliot, Yggy, and everyone else who wanders in here this morn :coffee: !

Glad you're feeling better Yggy. We got some rain last night and the winds yesterday,as Thecatman said were crazzzzzzy yesterday. Still breezy out this morning, think I'll turn my sprinkler system back on soon. I don't think we're going to have any hard freezes this spring.

Plan for today: Going to a meeting of the organizers of the upcoming Spirits On The Loch steampunk event here in Clearlake (in October). This will be a photo shoot and otherwise promotional gig for the event, so I'm bringing a couple pedal-vehicles for the photographer. So... better go out and hook up the trailer....

Morning, Lucky, Elliot and YG :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Rained here as well last night, but sunny and warm this morning. Elliot, I too got used to the 24 hour clock when I was in the Navy. I still have trouble figuring out whether midnight is 12 AM or PM Same with noon.So for Noon, I always use 12:01 PM etc. Seems to work ok

Have a great day, Kiddies
