it'll be chiseled and split down to about 1200 lbs. when all is said and done, I had to get enough raw material, to allow shaping and such.

2500 pounds of granite?

***Rhino does the math, assuming 160lbs/ cu.ft. for granite***

15 5/8 cubic feet. What were the dimensions of the block?

I'll also make another assumption, but I'll confirm it with you.....Galaxy Black, right?

Academy black, we use 190 lb. cu. ft, though I guess exact is 181.3 or some such.
4'x5'x.66' maybe a few inches bigger.

181.3 leaves you on the short side. 190 lbs is about right. 2500/(4X5X.66) =
189.39lb/cu ft. Must be heavy on mafic (amphiboles, pyroxenes, micas) components, though still fitting a granite to a quartz monzonite overall composition.

LOL, fishy, I like that you find my beer cozy, and you would make it undrinkable as well.
Issues, wissues blissues tissues... I ain't getting any medals at work, but I still have a job. I went to HR last Friday with a request for procedural help. Then in my annual review today, she used the event as an illustration of how I do my job "inconsistently."
Thanks ygmir, drink what you like, you know it's better for you than me.

So, asking for help is proof of incompetence?
Or am I reading this wrong?

What a fucking Oh crap! it's not a double standard, and I sure can't say chinese finger trap, or can I--it's the most accurate, and Catch-22 is not right... It's another fine mess that the bad bosses toss onto the backs of good workers.

And "bad bosses" obviously precludes any and all good bosses out there.

Good Morning!!! :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Ways in which Burning Man has changed me. The garbage disposal my apt came with finally crapped out. Instead of hiring a plumber, I'm going to do this myself. Got the same model. Looked at the instructions this morning and I need some tools. I love buying tools now.

Off to the hardware store. :D

Hi Elorrum!!
Hi VC!! yay for DIY!!!!!

Elorrum: I saw a person walking down the sidewalk yesterday, and thought of you:
they had a set of speakers, playing pretty loud, mounted like shoulder pads, secured to what looked like an armored vest/shoulder pad thing of some sort, with a boom box sort of thing on the front. You could tell it was home made, and with much thought!!

I have an MOLLE (?) belt and shoulder strap kit that I've been contemplating for a while... for a mobile set up or for general BRC walkabout gear. It seems a bit much just to carry sunscreen goggles and water. I have some small speakers and thought I could use plastic travel mugs for speaker housings and hang them off the belt?

Sometimes getting an old piece off is the hard part, with rusty bolts and such. It will be fine.

A sip of that rum sounds good for Saturday lunch!
You might want to keep some newspaper or paper towels under there for a while, and look once a day or so, just in case of a leak. A small long-term leak can turn a cabinet into a mushroom farm. (Don't ask me how I know!)

Will do, Elliot.

You, Figjam and Ygmir and just about every other eplayan have really inspired me to learn so much and acquire so many skills I never even thought about. I don't come from a very "handy" family. But there's something so satisfying about getting your hands dirty and doing it yourself.
