Utility Belt tutorial

Post by danibees » Sun Dec 22, 2013 1:40 pm

Hi everyone! Have you been wanting your own, unique utility belt for the burn? Here's my tutorial on Instructables:

http://www.instructables.com/id/FestivalUtility-Belt/

I like my design because it's practical, washable and (I think) straightforward. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

Happy creating!

Hey, you are certainly jumping right into ePlaya with both feet! Welcome! Looks like you are planning to go for the first time this year. Be sure to read the Survival Guide and other First-Timer information, and sign up for the Jack Rabbit Speaks e-newsletter.

Thanks folks!

Yes, 2014 will be my first experience on the playa, but I've been participating in regional burns since 2006. ;)

And the red hair....yeah, it's a wig. But a damn fine one! :)

I stumbled across a modular photo belt at my local camera shop. Yes, I know, shocking that there are still local camera shops with all the big box stores selling cameras now.

It was marked way down, so I picked it up thinking it would be a great base for a BM utility belt. It doesn't have as many attachment points as a nylon or leather belt with all the grommets, but I figure I won't need to attach so many items to the belt that I can't make do with the 10 loops, rings, etc. that this has. There are two things that really sold me on using this. On either side, there are small zipper compartments that would inconspicuously hold a bit of cash, ID, etc. Also, the back of the belt is padded, which will probably a welcome addition after carrying stuff around all week.

Anyway, thought I would throw it out there in case anyone else wants to consider something like this for their Burner Belt.
