The electric assist kit is a pain in the ass to install, Meat Hunter, but trust me... well worth the effort. And looks like a fine schedule - as you find other (or smaller) things you can add or knock them off your lists pretty easily. In my first year I checked out as many playa checklists as I could (of course, at the time there weren't many out there), and cobbled together my own from that.

Congrats on the playapod sale, Figjam! It's a nice feeling knowing that it'll still be out there, as well as powering other peoples' amazing adventures. All the shade structures I've designed are still coming to the playa in one form or another, it's nice knowing that things last or get repurposed.

I worked on some planning stuff, as well as had a couple good talks with campmates, and friends in other camps that will be in our neighborhood. Some possible resource sharing, but mostly just being excited for each others' plans for 2014.

Picked up a bunch of LED bracelets. They're too small for my wrists, but I can take them apart and attach them to other things. They're quite bright.

Worked on cleaning out/up the shop again today. Preparing for a full heart transplant in Golficus Carticus the golf cart I lend out to a disabled burner every year. Getting ready for shop work is satisfying.

Excellent crop of new solo bad-asses this year, and old hands showing promise too. I think I'll get us a patch.

I'm finally back to the One Item A Day thread. Today I got my financial ducks in a row and got the time off to take care of the ticket purchase. I am ready!

I'll get more focused once the ticket thing is over with. This is, by far,my least favorite part of the Burning Man experience. (Yes, including exodus)

I picked up a big floppy sun hat, like the one in the picture. I plan to decorate it, and add some sort of chin strap so it doesn't blow away.

... now to figure out how to take it on the plane without it being crushed. I may just have to wear it

Great helmet,, Daughter has one like it.. She wrangles hot air balloons.. It has a scarf attached.. The scarf can flow free, tie under the chin or be a dust mask across the face. Yes!! wear it on the plane.. A good burner must mess with some ones head once a day..

Trilobyte,

The installation of the battery drive on my tricycle was simple.

Just exchange the front tire, install the new wheel and everything else was plug-and- play.

To remove weight from my front basket, e-bike is sending me a longer cable so that I can install the lithium-ion battery on a shelf that I built behind and below seat.

I put 15 miles driving on the farm Saturday and the battery charge indicator on the LCD panel has yet to indicate any significant drain.

Needless to say, I am very happy with my unit.

Finished the new door to the trailer and hung it. Worked well. New electrical system put into the MV with individual switches. Started the new trailer that the MV will haul.

I know it's a different beast, but my indicator lights start disappearing only if you've used at least half the power. Suddenly, you're watching every foot. Of course, if I got 15 miles out of a charge, I'd be ecstatic.

You can get a cheap multi-meter from harbor.. Get some one to wire it in your chair.. You will get a direct read from the battery.. I saw this on a chair at a farmers fest last year.. It's and small red box with dial.. Kind of steampunky..

I'm glad to hear it worked out well for you. Our trike kits came from them as well, but the kits for portable/folding trikes is (or at least was when we got ours) incredibly ill-conceived. The hub motor was about half an inch larger in diameter than it should have been in order to be able to easily use a bike pump, the wheel itself was a fraction of an inch wider than both the previous tire and the front fork of the trike. The throttles also didn't match on the two identical kits we ordered, required taking them apart and removing extra wires/cables (even though the kit was supposed to be specifically made for our trikes), and as it turned out the wiring and color coding on each was completely different. The order, which was supposed to have a 3-4 week lead time, was also incredibly late - we ordered at the beginning of June and they didn't arrive until mid-August. Adding to the stress, one of the kits had a problem with it. The guy who runs the company was an incredible jerk about it, and I basically had to buy new parts and make my own shipping arrangements to get them to me (even though his direct sale website showed fedex as an option). I don't think I'd ever had a company that does business online tell me they couldn't expedite an order. It was a lot of stress and a lot of frustration, and for us the timing really sucked (I was days away from loading trucks and leaving for the playa).

Good call on the longer cable. Our kits came with that from the outset, and our batteries are in the back. It's a much better center of gravity (at least for our trikes).

Trilobite,

Ouch. Your experience was just the opposite of mine.

My dealings have been with the CEO via telephone. He has been nothing but accommodating in every way. Something must have changed.

I wonder if between the time that you purchased your kits and when I purchased mine two weeks ago, if the ownership changed....? Their webpage indicates NEW on the kits.

My order was placed over the phone on a Thursday and I had my kit the next Wednesday.

went to bank to make sure a grand order on the credit card will not be blocked tomorrow for ticket day.

They stated they had 3 one dollar uses of my card at a cng gas pump that was not working

and thought it was maybe a false stollen card. i called and cleared those 3 dollar tries.

other wise my credit card would have been blocked tomorrow at noon.

i was on the phone at the bank for 1 hour to get through

Good thing trillo warned me about something like that. thanks chief you rool dude.

If i make there it could be just because of your help. 007 mr. clean thank you. UNIT!
