Apple iOS7 and Mac OS X 10.9

Post by Patsh » Tue Feb 25, 2014 4:50 pm

This came to me today from a trusted friend, and it looks pertinent to people planning to use these for their ticket purchase...
Thought I ought to share...

"Just a note in case you've not heard a clear explanation of this news... Owing to a programming glitch, Apple's iOS 7, used on newer iPads and iPhones, and Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), used on newer Macs (including MacBook Airs and PowerMacs) had a defective line of code, which rendered them potentially vulnerable during financial transactions.

In the past few days, Apple has issued Software Updates for both systems, and recommends users upgrade without delay.

There's an additional benefit to the upgrade (on the Mavericks side, at least) in a new capability called FaceTime Audio...

(For more info on the upgrades, you may wish to consult this and other news on MacRumors:)

I'm moving this to the Open Discussion board, since that's a better fit.

Also, you may want to tell your friend that the sky isn't falling. Yes, the free upgrades are definitely worth jumping on (and include lots of fixes), but not a doomsday scenario. The Flash update that came out last week fixes a pretty serious security issue too, and Windows users should also check their Software Updates at least weekly, as well as make sure their virus subscriptions are up to date.
