Can I show up for part of the time?
Re: Can I show up for part of the time?
[quote="Canoe"]Lots of people come for just the weekend. Worthwhile, but you do miss a lot.
Lots of space. Look at the satellite photos.
Do read what gaminwench recommended.
You can find the survival guide, and lots more, through the link in my signature.
But, you've got until 12:00 noon PST tomorrow, Sunday Febuary 23rd, to both create a profile AND register for the Individual Sale, which starts (takes place) on Wednesday Febuary 26th.
Later in the year, there is also a limited OMG sale, and the STEP program.
Ok ive been through the guides but obiously I missed something crucial. I registered for the presale, got to the loading page and its sat there refreshing until it took me to a page that said sale off. I get that the sales over but what id I do wrong? am I just so late getting into this that I wont be able to get a ticket? I don't get where everyone else got one either if 38000 tickets sold out almost instantly. and if its that quick will I still be able to get one at omg sale when theres only 1000 of them? im dying to go I just feel like I missed something important.

There's still the STEP, the OMG last minute sale, and networking for aftermarket tickets. If you're diligent, you can definitely still get a ticket.faira123 wrote:... am I just so late getting into this that I wont be able to get a ticket? ...

Re: Can I show up for part of the time?
Tickets took approximately 42 minuntes to sell out. As BoyScoutGirl said, there are other options. Details and dates for STEP will be announced soon, and we'll also be announcing details regarding after-market ticket sales on ePlaya. There will also be an OMG sale in late summer - as has been the case in the last several years, the people who are determined and vigilant are usually able to get the tickets they need. Those who plan..burn.
Re: Can I show up for part of the time?
Everyone's hyper to get ticktes right now, due to the time and expense they put into preparing for BM. Once STEP is underway, and people's plans change, tickets put into STEP start flowing out. And they start turning up in the third party market.faira123 wrote:... if its that quick will I still be able to get one at omg sale when theres only 1000 of them? im dying to go I just feel like I missed something important.
Myself, and may others here on eplaya, got their tickets last year in the OMG sale. Usually not as much demand then as there is now. But DO keep up to date through the links in trilobytes signature and make sure you understand what is required to register for STEP, and for the OMG if STEP doesn't result in your getting tickets.

Trilo, I usually use the Rule of the 7 P's in life itself. And it negates the fuck out of Murphy's Law.
The rule?
Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance
It has never failed me.

As FIGJAM says: Plan Your Burn, Burn Your Plan.
I try to prepare for every predictable problem, then, turn myself loose.

It's only military if you let it be militarized.trilobyte wrote:I've always hated that particular military adage, myself.
I call it "proper engineering".
And then I remember that Murphy was a quality engineer.

Do remember that if you show up more than half way through Burning Man, by tradition you have to offer to do one (just one - don't let them scam you) shift washing dishes or washing clothes, for each camp in a two camp radius of where you camp.

That's why most people who show up late try to grab open land on the edge of town, right? Save themselves some chores.
