Extra unique codes - woohoo!
So I did the registration thing and it went just fine - only a little bit of time staring at spinning symbols.
And there it was - my unique code! Right there on the registration page staring me in the face.
So I go to the profile page to find the link and code, ... not yet say the computer gods.
After an hour or so, they appear on my profile - everything's great.
Now 24 hours later I get the email as advertised but wait, it's a different code.
I wrote down the first one and it was 2Gd-----G.
Now the code on the profile page has changed to QC-----R.
Not worried about it - just amused.
I better write this one down in case it changes again.

My codes were the same. You might want to shoot an e-mail to the ticket support team and ask them about that. Is the one on your burner profile the same as the one in your e-mail?

Yeah the new one on the profile page matches the email, I'm probably good to go.

Re: Extra unique codes - woohoo!
My guess is you are good to go, but you might bring this to the attention of both Trilobyte and the ticketing team. The reason is that "extra" code might (MIGHT) be taking away from someone elses ability to get a ticket. Dunno.
It's just a hunch, and I'm likely wrong, but that one little ticket could make the difference between someone else going or not, so it's worth it to run it up the tree. (And if I'm wrong, I'm easy that way. See ya on the playa and the first dozen drinks are on me! heheheh)

My codes were different as well. I'll just try them both on ticket day, one of them should work.

Got a code, code showed up on my burner profile. (K------8)
Received email with a different code, new code showed up on my burner profile in place of my old one (V------6).

Re: Extra unique codes - woohoo!
I got my "Unique Code" today, Friday the 21st.
I can only wait to see if the one I get emailed is the same.
Details sometime tomorrow.

The email said,
"Due to heavy server load at the opening of registration your code may not have displayed properly at that time. The code above (which is the same as what you'll find in your Profile) is your correct code.
As a back up, you can also access the sale (and your code) from your Burner Profile.

Re: Extra unique codes - woohoo!
Very simple - the newer code (which also matches the email) is the one that's valid. If for some reason the information in your email and what currently shows in your Burner Profile does not match, then get in touch with the ticket team for assistance. If they match, you're good to go.

And in the end, when you begin the ticket-buying process we all know you're going to try both the codes if one doesn't end up working.

Re: Extra unique codes - woohoo!
Yeah Badger, but let's say hypothetically that it was displaying other people's codes by mistake rather than random codes. That would mean that I've got someone else's unique code written down next to my computer. Were I to blindly try that one first, and it worked, I could buy my two tickets and the other person who had that code and that code alone would be screwed while my second code went unused.
Or the person whose code I used inadvertently might complain to the ticketing company who would investigate, discovered that I "fraudulently" used their code, and have my tickets go to them only to have no tickets left to buy with my actual code once the matter is settled.
It isn't a trivial issue, but if the second code is mine I should be good. At least unless someone got my second code during the server troubles and wrote it down by accident effectively making me guy#2 from my hypothetical. That would suck.
I'm not actually worried, personally, but I suspect a select few screw ups (which will seem catastrophic to the victims) might occur on Wednesday...

It happened. A guy in my camp got an error that someone already used his unique code. I'm guessing someone was mistakenly shown the code, wrote it down, and fucked him.

Has he? All he did was click the link that was emailed to him, try to buy his ticket, and get told that someone else had used his code before him.
What's the lesson there?
He did *nothing* wrong Trilo...

Don't show anyone your code?FossaFerox wrote:... I'm guessing someone was mistakenly shown the code, wrote it down, and fucked him.
I'd guess he could (should?) email ticketing and detail what happened (without whining), including name, profile, unique code, etc., in case they can do something. Maybe (guessing) they can do something when they flush out the order when they match names, credit cards, etc..
Be nice. Be prepared to wait.

No one knows how to read. FossaFerox is saying his/her camp friend's code was accidentally given to someone else OVER THE INTERNET BY BURNING MAN ORGANIZATION in the second follow up email

Re: Extra unique codes - woohoo!
Sorry, I misread your post. Your campmate should get in touch with [email protected] asap with the details of their situation, profile/name/code etc. It's an extremely implausible scenario (people who forward their emails on often make those claims), but they can investigate and hopefully help them out.

Re: Extra unique codes - woohoo!
My entire camp was sitting on Facebook checking in with one another as we got through the ticketfly system one by one. At 12:08 PM when about a third of my camp had purchased he says "wtf. it says my code was already used by someone else." He didn't show his code to anyone else; he's the most experienced burner in our camp. I passed along your advice, Trilo. Thanks.
