Main Entry: fic·ti·tious

Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin ficticius artificial, feigned, from fictus

2 a : conventionally or hypothetically assumed or accepted <a fictitious concept> b of a name : FALSE, ASSUMED
3 : not genuinely felt

- fic·ti·tious·ness noun
synonyms FICTITIOUS, FABULOUS, LEGENDARY, MYTHICAL, APOCRYPHAL mean having the nature of something imagined or invented. LEGENDARY suggests the elaboration of invented details and distortion of historical facts produced by popular tradition <the legendary exploits of Davy Crockett>. MYTHICAL implies a purely fanciful explanation of facts or the creation of beings and events out of the imagination <mythical creatures>. APOCRYPHAL implies an unknown or dubious source or origin or may imply that the thing itself is dubious or inaccurate <a book that repeats many apocryphal stories>.

If Bush wins, I'll stick it out and scream my head off. If the opposition all light out for Canada or the Netherlands or wherever, then the country's really screwed.
If Bush wins, I'm going to start looking for an activist group that has "impeachment proceedings" in mind. I'll throw my lot in with a recall campaign and the first toe he steps out of line, put the heat on.
The good news is, Ashcroft is making noises that he'll walk out of the Cabinet, so one way or another tomorrow, we lose Ashcroft. [take a breath]
The other good news is, Kerry has most of New England (what was New Hampshire THINKING?!?!) and the contiguous Pacific Coast (what was Alaska THINKING?!?!?!?!?!??!). He leads in Oregon by seven points as of last night, Washington is favouring, California's a slam dunk. Florida's a toss-up but after the last election's debacle, I can't see them breaking towards Bush and I don't care if his brother's the governor. If they go for Bush again we'll have a solid case to suspect election corruption.
Twenty-eight hours to go, folks...Visualize President Kerry.

On that note:I tried that and alls I came up with is John Kerry in a leather jock, bound and gagged, with his wife squirting ketchup on his chest.

While I am at it and feeling mean,
You could always volunteer to be re-activated. I know this because dear old dad did during Gulf 1. He was moderately pissed that they turned him down due to his age at that time (around 74) on the other hand even at that time they were so short of trained men that they were taking volunteers in his primary MOS (diesel engineer) up to around 70. For someone who never talks about his war time experiences (I did not know that he had a Sliver and two Bronzes until I learned to read his ribbons) I think Bud kind of likes getting shot at. Only his third bronze (Nam) was for actually shooting at people and there he had no choice, I have no clue what the Presidential (Nam) was for. You too can have a draw full of shiny metals, BTW. Bud came back from Nam opposed to the war and thinks the current one is just as stupid. He has even stopped trying to talk my son into the Army and is now pushing the Coast Guard.DVD Burnout, if you must know... because i am an officer, i remain on a list indefinately.DVD Burner wrote:

Seriously though I live in California and this state is Kerry bound(from what I understand). I was shocked to learn today that there are a couple women in our office who aren't going to vote tomorrow and aren't even registered. (We are County of Sacramento employees) It's their choice not to vote but I can't understand it. Is there anyone on Eplaya who just isn't going to vote?

Live Webcam/Video .November 2 Election Day Fire Ceremony Streamed Live Here! http://www.brightpathvideo.com
Positive Prayer is the core of realized intention.
Positive prayer derives its unfailing energy from focused thought held to the desired feeling one wants to experience. Divine creative thought possesses no qualitative function, therefore for those in perfect or near perfect alignment with absolute energy, the power of the thought attracts like unto itself. Use the words "if", may", or "please", and you get if, may or please. Use the words "I know", "I call forth" or "I realize" and you are now in the realm of the cosmic idiom. Here now is our intention and prayer for this election. You may use it too.
There is nothing separate in this great mystery called life. We, plant and animal life, the oceans, rivers, mountains and cities are all connected by our ultimate sameness. As a voice for that sameness, that immutable unity, I call forth now into this particular creation called the United States of America, the nurturance, protection, and special love for all living things in the soul of all voters. All living things planet wide as well. I call forth this creation now and the forces and manifestations of love, love that cherishes all of the people and the environment of this planet, love that is manifested in those whose intention it is to honor all of life and by their policies do the highest good for everyone and everything. I know for the whole of creation that this is so. I claim the incredible happiness that accompanies this movement of life! I know for all of creation that the presidential candidate most closely matching this calling will be elected the next US president. The complex establishment of this truth I now offer into the Law of the universe where perfection and clarity take their unique and special course and for this I give great thanks and release this prayer with perfect confidence that its fulfillment is already accomplished!
And so it is!

Thank you, CowboyAngel. In the rush and tumble of life in general, it can be easy to lose sight of the real goal.
Adding a "Kheper" ("let it be thus") to your intention.
As for the webcam — hah! We're having a broadcast of the election in the Lane County Fairgrounds tomorrow night. I'm watching the election from there!

Service Time - None
reason - they asked and I told (I was too scared being a bit on the swishy side, I would have been everyones secret "girlfriend")
My partner was in the Marines from 1986 to 1994 and was part of Desert Storm.

When I was in my twenties I thought about enlisting in the National Guard. When we hit Libya a bunch of my friends and I got jacked up and some of them volunteered for the National Guard and the Army. I never quite got my act together enough to follow them, though.
I did entertain the notion to maybe join the Cavalry, because some divisions still work with horses in ceremonial capacities. You know, ride in parades, funerals, guard duty at national monuments, things like that. The one thing I liked about Reagan is he was an equestrian, too — dressage, no less. He had a Passier saddle and it was on the horse at his funeral.

Personal service means dick, unless you are running for the office of Commander in Chief. The last two presidents both skipped on Vietnam, even though they had a 'chance to serve'. I agree with Q's quote and would suggest a careful study of which of the candidates has approached that standard.Simply Joel wrote:Melvin Joel Weidinger 1979-1999... And then cast your vote for Richard Nixon, who fulfilled all of those requirements.
