Isn't "called home" a euphemism for death?

Must stay out of ticket threads. I'm about to start snarking at the innocent ones.

It's just so sad, in a pathetic way, when a thread drifts off the first page without so much as a single reply.

Oh, you've HEARD about what we call the WSDOT WASH-OUT?

I get the inside scoop on a monthly basis in Tunnel Business Magazine. Sort of a joke, that, in that the initials are the same as Tunnel Boring Machine.

WHEN are these lame-fuck civil engineers going to decide that they need an in-depth geologic investigation BEFORE they put steel in the ground ???????

Let me give you just ONE example. At the time, it was called the Tower of Pisa. Then, to save a few lira, they didn't do a geologic investigation in advance, or so the story goes.

I love you, VultureChow. Not as a member of my family, not as a ruse to get a ticket, but because you so succinctly demolished some very annoying tropes.

The "special needs" of those who have a recent history of self-harm and/or suicide attempts are NOT going to be addressed by a photobook of weirdos in the desert. Get your fucking priorities straight and get that woman to real help, which obviously means someone other than you!

Burning Man is totally about forcing everyone to "participate" in doing mundane stuff we can do at any other time of the year by ourselves -- like looking at stars or being quiet. Maybe we can have 10-15 minutes where everyone goes to sleep? Or to eats some food? Or to stare at the ground? Or masturbate? Or something profound like scratching our nuts while looking at clouds? That kind of shit?

I had open-heart surgery two days ago. If I go to burning man do you think I'll get tired? Will I have a good time? Is there a heart surgery friendly camp that I can join?...I got a case of saline IV bags and some gauze that I'll kick in if you do...

Somehow, I don't think it's Bertha that's the problem. It's a lack of knowledge on the part of the project management team at both WSDOT and the consultant.

Heck, they have no less than six of these operating in Beijing (OK, OK, so the machines are Herrenknechts and not Robbins TBMS), and the Chinese are making rings around that city for more and more subways. Long bores, short bores, big bores, little bores......keeps their engineers from getting bored.
