A linchpin (or lynchpin) is a metal part used in mechanical engineering to prevent a wheel or other rotating part from sliding off the axle it is riding on.

Malleability is often an undesirable property in a general-purpose cryptosystem, since it allows an attacker to modify the contents of a message.

Malleability occurs as a result of the specific type of bond found in metals (Main article: metallic bond). In metallic bonds, valence shell electrons are delocalized and shared between many atoms.

Suspension of disbelief is sometimes said to be an essential component of live theatre, where it was recognized by Shakespeare, who refers to it in the Prologue to Henry V:

is there any reason to conclude that the precision an accuracy of naming
were any more apt
than the precision and accuracy of their cartography
