Thats my One Item for BM and new truck!! actually it's the dogs truck but she's going to let me drive it until her legs are long enough to reach the pedals.
thanks Jella. I picked up the truck on her first birthday.
It's been eight hours straight and the battery is still powering a string of 12 regular (not LED) Christmas lights. I'm checking it every hour.illy dilly wrote:Yeah I'd like to know how well that works for you. I'm thinking about getting a similar set up, deep cell, inverter, and one of those solar deals. I'd like to hear how that goes.EmilyD wrote:I'm testing the deep cycle battery today to see how long it'll keep my giant candy lights going. Then I'll test the solar charger to see how long it takes to recharge the battery. If it's all soso, I'll leave the entire mess at home and buy a shitload of batteries at Costco.FIGJAM wrote:google 12volt led string lights and you will find sources that dont need an inverter. big lots has the aa powered ones.

Hmmm actually there are many bad reviews on this battery. I was thinking of maybe getting one simply because it's less equipment to haul around but it doesn't seem as reliable as what we've already got going.Boijoy wrote:
the Duracel is about $135.00 on Amazon & you can charge it with a solar panel.
You know that's illegal in France.sambojones wrote:love em i think i may have to try one out this yearEmilyD wrote:Here are the two Shemaghs I made as part of my dust storm defense system (thanks to thesandman for the measurements):

is it possibly that the battery is charging a little throughout the day?EmilyD wrote:WOW, WOW!!! The lights I'm testing on the deep cycle battery/inverter set up are STILL GOING! I started the test on Tuesday at 2pm, it's now Thursday at almost 9AM! Now I'm just trying to drain the battery to test how long it takes the solar charger to recharge it. DAMN! This thing holds a lot of juice!

Don't drain the battery completely. It is best to not drain past the 50% mark of the battery capacity. Once you go below that point it can damage the battery.EmilyD wrote:WOW, WOW!!! Nope Fire_Moose, it's not hooked up to any charging source. It finally stopped powering the lights this afternoon around 4pm. Tomorrow I'll try the solar charger and report back.Fire_Moose wrote:is it possibly that the battery is charging a little throughout the day?EmilyD wrote:WOW, WOW!!!
