One Burning Man Virgin looking for Camp

Post by neckstar » Sun Aug 21, 2022 3:37 pm

I know this is incredibly last minute, and have been scolded repeatedly for it. Unfortunately, had some family issues and all my plans went out the window.

I'm a 35+ year old guy based in SF looking for a camp that accepts virgins. Willing to help in any way I can, super modest and down to earth, and can make tequila cocktails and omelettes.

Would only be able to attend from the 31st to 5th, but can help with cleanup afterward.

Happy to be interviewed if needed :)

Thank you!

Do a little study in case you are not adopted. You can contribute and meet your new family even if you aren’t in a theme camp. Can you bring all you personally need to survive a week in the desert? (Hint: this question may be in the interview.). Care and feeding are not a camp’s responsibility.

@ellorum: Will read, thanks!

I consider myself self reliant in real life, but I don't have experience camping alone. Figuring that out + the desert environment + only understanding what BM is at a conceptual level (meaning I have seen videos and heard stories and read about it but never actually went) seems a bit too much to do properly.

That's why I was hoping there was still a chance, but it looks like I am too late.

I would say it’s a big challenge, but not impossible. Do some research on basic camping checklists. Anybody fumbling with their tent gets asked if they need help pretty quickly. It’s a very nice place. I’ve had neighbors in open camping who have their car water tent sleeping bag, box of cliff bars, cans of soup and stew on the hot dashboard, a hat, a headlight, sunscreen, and not a lot more. … if you have what you need to survive, you can find comfort around the city, just don’t plan on being gifted survival essentials.

You may also be correct. Sometimes it takes another year to be well prepared and part of a camp. Many peoples burn histories start with “I tried to go in 20xx.”

Here’s a guy, with strung cheese that was looking for someone last week, dues reasonable. viewtopic.php?f=570&t=110405
