I take it you came out alright, then? You made a good choice, from my perspective. I have two meshes (meshii?) and they remind me often they are in there. Apparently one year I attended the burn with a huge fucking hernia, big enough to be life threatening. Glad I didn't know. now I have yet another weird bulge off to the side, it is not painful, pretty certain it is another little hernia. I am going to ignore it. I am done after ten years of mucking about with my guts.

came out great , my doc was the only one who knew the old way ( without mesh ) so she asked me if she could have a class on how to do it the old way useing me as the teachers tool :) She was a fun doc , when she told me it would hurt more ,and take longer to heal , I said" I can take it ". This conservation was going on while she was looking at my hernia. So as she was squatting in front of me, she yanked my pants down and says "I bet you can " :)

OK, a belated happy b-day to Le Chat Noir.

Yggy, get well soon. I found out you and I have one of the same friends at Interfuse this year. You know Kaalin from Gate & Perimeter. The big guy and I have worked that event for a while. I ranger as an Interranger, and Kaalin is the fire marshal. A couple of years back he was on the burn crew and they used ground effect fireworks at the base of the effigy. I was the guy responsible for giving him the OK that all the fire performers had cleared the effigy area. No injuries or mishaps even with one misfire, so we did our job right. We even remembered to close the fuel dump areas in metal containers so that nothing would get hit by hot flaming debris (though none travelled that far). It was an epic year at Interfuse, with pics of the rainbow over the effigy in my collection that also mirrored the double rainbow over the effigy at Burningman. I'd do anything for that big guy if he needed me,

This year's Interfuse was a good one. No injuries at the med tent (YAY!). Rangering went well with no incidents and smooth shifts. I took the Friday night 8-midnight back to back with a midnight to 4 a.m. shift. I did the same on Saturday. The radios worked well this year, and we had one new ranger who admitted he was into 'psytrance' music:

"Hey, Psycon (not his real name, the name has been changed to protect his identity), what's the difference between a raver and a hippy?"
"I dunno, what?"
"The hippy doesn't carry a glow stick on his necklace"
"I'll have you know I LIKE that music, and we're NOT ravers, we're psytrance music addicts"
"Ok then, you must be carrying TWO glow sticks....."
""AuggghhHHH!

I won't even mention his new tag of 'dubstep dimwit'.......

The snark flowed freely, the food was good (Show-Me Mike served up blueberry flavored kettle corn that was pretty great, and the chicken wings served by the Spice Pirates were phenomenal), and I had the chance to make new friends and renew old friendships. As one of the returning veteran rangers, I even got to get out and do a few solo walk-throughs just to gauge the camps. It was a quiet time I'll always treasure the memory of.

Now, back the fuck to work for a few months. See you all in the dust.

Bbadger has 3999 posts! What are we going to do when he passes that threshold? Something worthy, I hope. Savannah can give a speech. And there will have to be pyrotechnics...

*wakes up groggily in recliner*
HI gang...........thanks for all the good thoughts!
the repairs went well, there was more damage than anticipated, so took longer, but doc said he confident

he did mention, but did not elaborate : "you've lifted heavy stuff all your life, haven't you?". Not sure what that meant.

and, well, they may not let me back......hahaha

I had a "dream" that they woke me at a point, but the airway was still in, and I had started making "moose calls" through the tube....................turns out it was not a dream. They also giggled a lot, when upon my next "waking" (or recollection thereof), I first said, after answering a few questions: "I'd like to apologize for anything I said earlier, sometimes I can be very, very funny coming out of anesthetic"........not only giggled, but said "don't worry, we forgive you". haaaa

funny also said the had a hard time, at a point, getting me to breathe.......I remember them saying "breathe, breathe" and one saying "he's turning blue", and struggling but finally getting air and then being able to see everyone and stuff.

fun times.

now, to lay around.

and as if on cue, coyotes are outside my house singing and yipping............

YAY, Yggy!!
Glad it's over... now to take it easy for a while! You gotta be all fixed up for the Hof party. All those trees and boulders in the way can be walked around. Maybe when we're there, you can orchestrate a work party, and we can help with some of that. I know it'll take 4 or more people to do what you usually do alone.

Woohoo for Yggy and the moose calls! I'll guess that as he was working on you, he could tell you've got a few years of heavy lifting and hard work built in. As opposed to, say, a guy who sits in a recliner all day and hurt himself by over-exerting during that one bit of heavy lifting in a year.

Seems a bit of an odd day in SF today. I was out and about with the girl early this morning, and we grabbed coffee :coffee: before she dropped me off and took the van to her work, and on a random street corner near our house the SF bike coalition guys and girls had a table set up. They were giving out free coffee and cloth shopping bags to cyclists, and there were maybe a dozen people dressed up as either peas in a pod or carrots. Our first thought was take your bike to work day, but the costumes threw us. Is it take your vegetable to work day?

Greetings All,
I am glad everything went well for you Yggy. Try to enjoy the down time - catch up on some movies.
We had a pretty big storm move through last night. A lot of rain (hooray) and some high winds
I beheld the power of bungee balls ! I had just half-ass rigged a crappy tarp on an old quickshade frame I use as a "patio cover" and it held up! I watched it billow and twitch quite a bit, but it never let go. Impressive.
