Hi gang. Sorry, have not been in much of late. Don't have regular computer access.
Gimme the biggest damn drink you have. My new Grandson, Alexander, is in the hospital with a lung infection and I just want to cry.

snicker, this went right over my head, working way to many hours, makes a goat kind of goofy.goathead wrote:In that case drop down to the "Ask Eric" thread, or as he would probably tell me, Google is your friend.Sunbeam56 wrote:Goathead - research it! I have learned on this informative website that there is a monster in the drier, maybe the washer, that eats only one of each matched pair of socks. Then the monster matures into coat hangars, or maybe poops coat hangars, im confused on that detail. And thats why you never have matching socks and always have extra hangars
Of course, i suspect that some alcohol may have influenced the research on the subject...

wanders in.
wow, what a fire! I went right to the edge today.......got a call from a friend who needed to evacuate and had more trailers than trucks, so I threw in a couple of fire extinguishers, water and a chainsaw (in case I had to cut my way out) and headed down there......Luckily, didn't need any of the stuff, but as I was approaching his place, you could see roads being closed, people packing and staging to leave. The top of the smoke column is so high,it's white like a cloud from ice crystals.
I hope if we have anyone else in harms way, they sing out for help.

time to hit the hay. Finding the streaming Roosevelt episodes on PBS to be absolutely wonderful for putting me to sleep. Sorry Ken Burns, I'll keep trying until I do pay attention to them all. They are good, but not for the drowsy viewer.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
We had a bit of rain here this morning, YG. Streets are wet and hopefully we'll get some more. Was hoping some rain came down in the fire areas as well. Would help some, but stuff is really dry. Wish we could divert some of that H20 that has drenched Arizona up to California.
BB, hope Alexander is doing better this morning. Congrats TTG on the job and on life. You too FJ on 8000. MDF enjoy your rest and Sadie your camping buddy. ((Doc))

Technically that phenomenon is known as a pyrocumulus cloud. Rather rare indeed. Heat can create its own weather, and though they rarely ever advance to a state of percipitation (i.e. raining), it is a sight to behold. From 50 miles away.ygmir wrote: The top of the smoke column is so high,it's white like a cloud from ice crystals.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Hmph. Ever heard of Pinatubo, Krakatoa or Tambora? All three of these changed the weather worldwide. And in January of this year, we had Sinabung. Sinabung created its own weather on the ground from the heat it generated. Vortices formed as the result of a hot pyroclastic flow, and adding insult to injury, a series of tornadoes rolled down the mountain.Dr. Pyro wrote:Technically that phenomenon is known as a pyrocumulus cloud. Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Yesterday's allegedly rainy forecast turned into perfectly clear skies and ideal temps - I felt like a sucker for bringing a jacket with me when I left the house. The fallout from the storm that hit Cabo earlier in the week that was due to give us some moisture apparently decided it wanted to go to Arizona instead. It turned out to be great weather for a visit with friends - Captain Goddammit and his first mate had a stop in SF on their way back from Hawaii. Elliot made it out too - I took them on a tour of the workshop place where I play with the high tech tools, and then we hit up the nearest pub, and capped the evening off by heading to the waterfront and checking out the Bay Lights as well as Soma - the Flaming Lotus Girls' playa art piece from 2009 that's been refit with LED's and installed on the Embarcadero (SF's waterfront promenade).

What a great night! Now to find some

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Fabulous visit to San Francisco yesterday. Thanks for the tour, Trilo!
Captain Goddammit & First Mate Miss Charlie say they will return to BRC next year. And Goddammit is considering adding a "flying bridge" -- an elevated observation deck -- to the Land Yacht.
