Boy, Its a great sunny day here... can't find but one thing to complain about.. That is there is nothing to complain about..

Sept and Oct in Southern Oregon is amazing. Even after 26 years I can't believe how nice these two months are. Sunny with bright blue sky and not too warm and cool nights. It rarely rains in Sept ever. 80 degrees at the moment. I just got in from a nap in the sun on the back deck. No complaints.

Figjam, I'm sure you had some questions about how turnkey camps are evaluated and placed prior to this article being written. Does it answer ANY of them?

We’re often asked why we even placed Turnkey camps if they didn’t meet our standard for public interactivity. It’s an excellent question.

Dear Kristen Berg, We would like to know how these camps get tickets. We, (the ordinary garden variety burner), have to miss a day of work and sit at our computer praying and cursing alternately. Ditto for the registration for step tickets. Do you really guarantee these tickets to the P&Ps? How else would they do business? THAT is my biggest resentment. And believe me I'm not alone. Your blog didn't tell us any information about this. Are the rich able to simply pay the price and come to the party. Exactly how many tickets go to P&P camps. Are those people entitled to attend more than a guy that jumps through the hoops and still doesn't get a ticket? Please enlighten us. I would love to hear that those camps buy their tickets through the pre sale, main sale, step, craig's list at face value and private parties. Thank you in advance for your timely reply.

Ban Segways and all one person MV's.

Limit commodification camps to 1% of the population.

Increase the commodification ticket price, to say $3000, with the premium going to the low income ticket program.

Measure the post-playa "transformation" of commodification campers, and modify or discontinue the program based on results.

Yeah yeah, rules have never been enforced or needed for ethics, who actually believes this? Is there room on your high-bread piece of art for the pedos and rapists? Not that anyone here outright approves of them, but simpleton talk about there should be no rules on ethics, implies somebody here would be ok with them (unless their talk of no rules is just that talk talk talk). Look, we all know that rules do get enacted and enforced on ethical issues, why kid yourself? I have been hinting about this throughout many of my comments. Once the event has bodyguards, the entire culture of the event is over. The org has escalated toward that by allowing and obfuscating and a small number of pissed off people have escalated it. It's a positive feedback system. I disagree with both, but there you have it.

The problem with single passenger powered vehicles, standing, sitting or reclining, is they put the operator in default world motor vehicle operation mindset, with no interaction. A two+ seater offers more options for interaction. Segways are ostentatious. The cupcakes could come back as two seaters easily.

The serpent Twins are ART, not passenger vehicles; I guarantee that there is more personal interaction coming out of those MV's (they play with the burners, they create a playa dance/cuddle space, they make us laugh) than some huge party barge. Their makers are artists, not bus drivers.

I love the one-seater MVs. A lot of them are 'support vehicles' for those that would otherwise be unable to participate. Some are just plain fun. I'm not threatened by them or envious of their ability to tootle around without pedaling. Even the stand up gas powered scooters will give you a hand if you ask. They delivered water when the Burner Express arrived and more than once I've had help with my ice purchase. I'm able to walk and bike but not everyone is so lucky. When I can no longer walk I'll roll around in a Zardoz Head.

As much as segways may be a symbol of PnP they are not *the problem*. There's a correlation but not a causation between them and PnP camps.

Banning segways makes about as much sense as demonising all black folk because of the correlation between black skin and the conviction rate while ignoring historical and economic factors that have effected black crime rates and statistics that show fair skinned folk commit as much crime but they're much less likely to get convicted for it.

Yes that's a pretty extreme example but it is the kind of thinking you're advocating. It's bigoted, close minded and just plain stupid. It won't help the situation, in fact it will likely just create further us and them animosity and completely innocent non-PnPers will be punished because of your prejudices.
