From the mountains of New Mexico

Post by FoolsGold » Thu Feb 19, 2015 1:33 pm

Hi there,

I've been lurking here since last summer, when I became obsessed with going to Burning Man. I signed up for the OMG Sale at the time, but decided against it in the end, when I realized how ill-prepared I was going to be. I was also slightly anxious about going alone, but I've gotten over that part (and hopefully will have mastered the prepared part, too).

I emerged from yesterday's ticket sale with a ticket, in what seems like the final minute or two. Of course, the vehicle passes were sold out by then, but I'm just grateful to be going. Plus, there's plenty of time to sort that out, so no worries there.

I don't know anyone personally who has been to BM. I feel like I must represent what is a very small minority — and that thought gets reinforced when I come to this board and see what large crews and extended circles so many seem to have. In time, perhaps... One can wish, right? :D

Saludos!

Welcome to ePlaya! You wouldn't be near Ramah, by any chance, just south of Gallup?

Welcome FG!
With your desert blood you won't have any trouble at BRC - it will seem just like home.
I grew up in the duke city, still have green chile in my blood.

Thanks a bunch! I'm from the Santa Fe area. Actually, I've been to Ramah once and will soon be going back — for the excellent wolf sanctuary there, on both occasions. :)

Thank you! It's hard to shake the green chile, isn't it?

WELCOME!! :D
Been through your beautiful state a few times: along the entire length of the three interstates and the Farmington/four corners area as well Hobbs.
Tucumcari has to be my favorite town in NM along old Route 66.

Bingo! That's what I had in mind -- Candy Kitchen Wolf Sanctuary. I visited there just a couple months ago, and my brother once worked there.

That's great — I'm glad you saw it. Your brother sure was lucky. There can be few greater gigs than working with wolves...

Welcome! I got to visit Santa Fe a couple years ago, loved it!

One of our village leads lives in Taos. Does river rafting.

Thank you! :D I've heard good things about Tucumcari, but I haven't been— I'll have to change that before long...
