Thanks Gameinwench, but I'll stick with tea for now. I tried to be nice, go look at the first posts, pure logic and facts- the problem is that when you successfully challenge individuals fundamental beliefs the cognitive dissonance triggers a fight or flight response most times and they react irrationally. Then once I was attacked well...

I'm hoping that things can settle down now, but there are some fairly large philosophical difference between myself and damn near everyone else. Most of these philosophies have saved my life in one sense or another and I don't compromise on them without a solid factual reason.

Hi Elorrum!! I'm so glad you had the chance to experience the trike! Not too many ePlayans have. Counting you and me, that makes seven.
That day with the trike, in our summer clothes in December, watching the storm roll in from the Mine Museum in Jerome, then scurrying home just in time to see it snowing (even in the valley)! That snow stayed on the ground for a week! Not too common in these parts.
So, the trike still runs, and you ought to come back and ride again one of these days/months/years! The departments have only grown, too... and become even more organized.

Thanks GW. Yeah, I came in pretty damn hot this time, for reasons that may not be apparent to all right now.

Did you check that thread from eleven years ago? I was treated fairly shoddily last time and I played that to my advantage, sorry, not sorry. I knew I could expect all kinds of ad hominem attacks and dirty tricks to protect the sacred cow but thought this time I might get a level playing field and if not, well if someone wants to lock themselves in their own gibbet, that's their choice.

Sorry this is incorrect. I started three logical debates: one political (An/Soc), one about a principle/bylaw violation (exclusion) and one about civil rights (Second Amendment)

I defended myself a couple times (and maybe just a little spice of snark) in "page two"

Well, as I recall from some of the old original bar conversations, when I started here, it could get pretty heated, but short lived mostly. Cussing and name calling are not unprecedented, but mostly many of us try to avoid it. We, back then, sorta tried to turn this thread into banter, chatting, random news and personal reports, the occasional friendly (ish) disagreements, and mostly, overall jocularity. The trend has usually been to start a new thread if a specific topic is for discussion, or jump on a related thread.
Some people "took their toys and went home", and refused to come back here because it's not what they want.....and that's totally fine! A wonderful old timer, started a second "bar" thread, just for separating folks along certain personality lines, and it worked wonders. If a subject is not of interest, people won't go there. Fair.

I lament how, often, a new person who may not be what many (judgmental) people here "like" or agree with, are bullied and treated poorly. Ironically, it's often people who voice "radical inclusion, acceptance, and tolerance", in other sectors.
To be fair, some folks are a total pain in the ass, and get what they ask for.
But, often, folks sorta mellow, learn how to play in the play yard, and things go fine.
I know I got my ass handed to me a few times by "board bullies" here, and tried to give as I got. Sometimes it worked, sometimes I realized it's like pissing in the wind, and just didn't interact with them. They are of no moment, to me. I also found, when meeting on playa, or in the default world, people tended to be nicer, and made it easier to deal with their acerbic persona here.

For me, the common thread for the board, but mostly here in the bar, is our love of a dusty hippie rave filled with makers and singers and sexy beasts! It's fun to share thoughts and ideas, experiences, and hopes. We support and console each other, and mostly appropriately. Celebrate each others successes, and try to lift a person up who's fallen.

I have dear friends here, who we just don't talk about politics or certain subjects, because we can enjoy each other without opening that door...

And to be fair, I've walked away from a few friendships, at least for now, just to preserve the good feelings I had before society became so polarized and rude.

Every play yard has a "feel" and unwritten rules. It's up to anyone to decide if they want to play, and realize if they try to change those rules, they could encounter resistance, and risk failure.

It's so nice to see some of the old gang drop in once in a while. and to drop in myself (as a fairly old timer), and just say "what's new, have a Border Crossing or Absinthe"....and smile.

No, not in a long time now. Gave it up out on the playa, it got so was just too much dust in the air even when it was calm. Retired now, still have some different projects in mind
