For those following Ukraine, here's Russian tank layout, and why the turrets are "ejecting" from the rest of the tank. Just below the turret, is the autoloader...
https://twitter.com/Osinttechnical/stat ... 9024998403

I believe the last statement in the first is related to the second tweet below.
It's ironic that Russia says it has "successfully demilitarized Ukraine", when Russia has so far lost 10% of its military aircraft, much of its precision missile stock, and six or more Generals, while Ukraine has gained an unlimited future stream or nearly every kind of weaponry.

https://twitter.com/christogrozev/statu ... 2321746949
I'm not sure how we are supposed to read this, but the [UK] MOD has updated its surplus inventory of equipment for sale... by removing all equipment for sale, apparently.

What follows below has been stated many different ways since the news was out.
But given that the Russian invasion of Ukraine had the Russian expectation of taking the entire country in two to three days, I can only see this as a face-saving move by Putin. And a political survival move for him, given what the consequences have been to the rest of Russian, and how many Russian lives thrown away in a country with a declining birth rate. Given his expectation of his invasion, this has to have been a bitter pill for him to swallow, along with having to face at least some actual facts.
Very interesting shift in rhetoric…
The Moscow Times
Russian army says the first stage of its military operation are "completed", and that troops will now focus on the "liberation" of Ukraine's Donbas region
https://twitter.com/BenHNoble/status/15 ... 9459543046
I'd expect the game plan for Putin is to consolidate what he can of Ukraine, negotiate to cut Ukrainian forces down as much as he can, while resupplying and building up Russian forces for its next push. And I expect that next push to be very fast and vicious. But, I'm just guessing from what I've seen.

So who's boat is it?
The Ultimate beneficial owner of MY Scheherazade has been released by Italian authorities as Eduard Khudainatov. Former president of Rosneft, the state run energy company. He’s not currently under any sanctions. Ok maybe that’s the end of the story?

Throughout the whole scrutiny of this vessel the boat has had a Russian crew, led by British captain Guy Bennett Pearce. I talked in my video about this boat called Is this Putun’s SuperYacht? That they had two crews, a British or English speaking crew and a Russian crew.

A video released by the opposition party of Putin did a deep dive into the crew list of the yacht and discovered the crew were made up of members of the FSO. The Equivalent of the Secret Service who guard the President of the United States.

But The Daily Beast reported that this week when the Russian crew disappeared overnight, and were replaced by an entirely British set.

Sensing a problem, the Kremlin promptly returned Shoigu to television. The clip released on Thursday was unusual: a security council teleconference with Vladimir Putin, where Shoigu was said to have reported “progress in the special military operation and efforts being made by the military to provide humanitarian aid, ensure security, and restore vital infrastructure on the liberated territories”.
But you wouldn’t know that because the sound was turned off. And Shoigu appeared for just seconds, as his camera was briefly unblocked to reveal him sitting in front of several Russian flags at an undisclosed location. His arm moved, proving it wasn’t just a picture of the defence minister returned to television to dispel rumours about his demise.
And then, just as quickly, he was gone again.

A US lawmaker could face expulsion from Congress for lying about funding ties to an African billionaire.

Jeff Fortenberry, a Republican from Nebraska, lied to the FBI about taking illegal donations from Gilbert Chagoury, a high-flying Nigerian businessman, a federal jury found. On Thursday, jurors at his trial in Los Angeles deliberated for about two hours before finding him guilty on charges of making false states and concealing facts to federal agents. He could be sentenced to 15 years in prison on three felony counts.

The case has also renewed attention on the access of foreign influencers on US politics.

Red tape and long waits: US visas remain out of reach for Ukrainian refugees

Nastia arrived at the Warsaw bus station late at night with nowhere to go. The 25-year-old had made the difficult decision to leave her home and family in Vinnytsia oblast in west-central Ukraine. Russian missiles had destroyed Vinnytsia’s airport, but her father could not leave because he is of fighting age, nor could her mother because she needed to care for Nastia’s two grandmothers, who are too sick to travel.

Now in Poland, terrified and unable to reach her mother, Nastia used Telegram to message someone who might be able to help: Caitlyn Simmons, a former Peace Corps volunteer who had been Nastia’s English teacher a decade earlier. From her home in Columbus, Ohio, Simmons booked her former student a hotel room for the next day, then kept her company over Telegram while she passed a lonely night at the bus station. In the morning, Nastia’s first stop was the US embassy. Even with an American willing to host her in the United States, there was no way for Nastia to get a visa.

As millions of Ukrainians flee their homes, the European Union has opened its doors to them, offering visa-free entry and temporary protection for at least one year. Canada is fast-tracking visas for Ukrainians and the United Kingdom has promised visas to Ukrainians who have hosts there.

[insert U.S. red tape, red tape, and more red tape here]

Ultimately, Simmons helped Nastia apply for a visa to Canada, a common destination for Ukrainians who have reached a dead end trying to get into the US. Nastia has an appointment scheduled to be fingerprinted and photographed soon. Simmons still hopes to bring Nastia to Ohio to stay with her family, but wasn’t hopeful the US government’s announcement would make a difference for her former student. “I think they’re feeling a bit of pressure from people so want to make it look like they’re doing something,” she said.

‘I can’t tell him his mother has died’: the cost of Russia’s assault on Kharkiv

Shelling is so intense that doctors and nurses at one hospital have lived there for 29 days, as casualties including many young children are brought in under fire

* A rocket had slammed into the neighbouring high-rise, and the force of the blast had lifted a door off its hinges and slammed it into the side of Diana’s head. When an ambulance rushed her to hospital – emergency services are braving shelling to pick up the injured – doctors were able to save her life, but not her left eye.
* Because it cannot rout Ukraine’s soldiers there, Moscow has turned its long-range artillery on civilians such as Diana, who now are filling Kharkiv’s hospital beds or the corridors of its morgues.
* On Thursday six civilians were killed by a rocket while they were queueing for humanitarian aid outside a post office. * On Friday another four people died when a shell landed near a clinic.
* I have not left the hospital for 29 days,” said Oleksandr Dukhovsky, a paediatric neurosurgeon who was treating Diana. He had tended to more than 50 other children brought in with shelling, gunshot and other conflict injuries since the war began.
* Dozens of bodies were lined up in a courtyard, some tied in plastic bags, others wrapped in blankets, and on a sunny afternoon this week vans carrying new bodies arrived about every five minutes.
* Volodymyr, seven, was just coming round from brain surgery. His mumbled, fitful words sounded like a call for his mama. He had not yet been told that she was dead, killed in the first week of the war by the round of bullets that shattered his skull. ... He must feel well, and after that I will tell him, and we will go to the cemetery together so I can show him her grave.”
* He realised something was wrong when she stopped checking in, and his brother called to break the terrible news that the family had been gunned down near a checkpoint.

* Traditionally Sweden has been officially neutral in international politics, however the law was changed few years back, which now allow for NATO membership. There's a majority for it now, and reckon it'll happen but.. is now the time?
I spoke with several people who were transferred to Russia. They had no choice: either stay and die or go. Many have no documents and don't know how to return to UA. As fighting continues in Mariupol, any such evacuation is illegal. IHL demand only to open humanitarian corridors

* At least 200 Belarusians are believed to have taken up arms to defend Ukraine against invading Russian forces. Hundreds more are interested in joining, according to a Belarusian group that is recruiting volunteers. Prakopyeu has said that said 5,700 Belarusians have signed up to help Ukraine behind the front lines.

The members of the battalion named after Kastus Kalinouski, Belarusian 19th century writer and revolutionary, took oath and became part of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

* Ukraine's armed forces have captured a sniper from the so-called DPR / LPR armed forces, which have been involved in the war against Ukraine since 2014, the Kyiv Defense Ministry news agency reported.
* "ZSU took the famous sniper Baghera from ORDLO prisoner, who shot us prisoners in 2014. According to some volunteers, she killed at least 40 Ukrainians, including civilians," the source wrote.
* According to volunteer Vlad Ivanov, Baghera was injured when she was captured and given medical assistance.
* She claims that she was abandoned on the battlefield: "They abandoned me. Knowing that I was injured and had the opportunity to take me away, they decided to leave me, hoping that I would die, "she explained.
* Baghera, alias Irina Starikova, is actually a Serbian handball player, Daniela Lazovic, who has a criminal background in her country. For a while she was a nun named Mother Xenia in Gornji Milanovac, then she was convicted of drug trafficking, converted to Islam, and in 2014 she arrived in Ukraine, where she joined pro-Russian separatist forces in the east of the country. from Donbas.

The MoD of the Republic of Azerbaijan requests the MoD of the Russian Federation to completely withdraw the remnants of the Armenian army and illegal Armenian armed detachments from the territory of 🇦🇿 recognized by the international community.

In accordance with the provisions of the Joint Statement, Azerbaijan asks not to use the term "Nagorno-Karabakh" and correctly indicate the names of the territories of Azerbaijan.

Ginni Thomas text to Mark Meadows: “‘Biden crime family & ballot fraud co-conspirators are being arrested & detained for ballot fraud right now & over coming days, & will be living in barges off GITMO to face military tribunals for sedition.’…I hope this is true.”

For God’s sake, please give @POTUS some credit. Just because it wasn’t in his text does not mean he was “inarticulate.” He has more foreign policy experience than many experts. That line was the culmination of his speech, delivered w/ emphasis. He knew exactly what he was saying.

“It’s not enough to speak with rhetorical flourish, of ennobling words of democracy, of freedom, equality, and liberty,” he said. “All of us…must do the hard work of democracy each and every day. My country as well.” His message “for all freedom-loving nations,” he said, is that “we must commit now to be in this fight for the long haul.” In the end, though, “the darkness that drives autocracy is ultimately no match for the flame of liberty that lights the souls of free people everywhere.” “We will have a different future—a brighter future rooted in democracy and principle, hope and light, of decency and dignity, of freedom and possibilities.”

“For God’s sake,” he said, “this man cannot remain in power.”

[Russians lack of a coms system has sure worked for Ukraine.]

1. Russian soldiers steal phones from Ukrainian civilians
2. Civilians report to authorities
3. Ukrainians tap in to hear Russians talk to each other and their families.
Russian troops’ tendency to talk on unsecured lines is proving costly

POV: you’re a Russian soldier. You’ve just fallen into in ambush. It might be the last seconds of your life. What do you do? Grab your weapon and fight? Nah, TikTok baby! yolo!

* This is my question too! I’ve seen videos where there are multiple ppl holding up phones (plus the person behind the camera) during a firefight.
* You can hear 1-2-3 (in Russian that would be двадцать один, двадцать два, three shots or AK) from Ukrainians. And then you hear 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-... from Russians. Only this speaks volumes about the Russian combat readiness.
* Seen some of Russians firing machine guns handheld, without deploying it anywhere. They’re just shooting half-clip in the air and waste bullets. Looks impressive on tiktok tho.
In today’s congratulatory message on Russia’s National Guard Day to Rosgvardiya, Putin referred to the troops involved in a special operation “on the territory of Donbas”
Yet another indication now from Putin directly that RU will spin the invasion of Ukraine as just a Donbas op

But Putin IS a “butcher,” a “murderous dictator” and “a pure thug.” Not calling him those terms will not make them less true.
Russians forcefully deported around 20,000-30,000 Ukrainians from #Mariupol to Russia or occupied territories in Ukraine. In occupied Donetsk, locals reported seeing many children without parents. If they don’t have family in Donetsk, Russians allegedly take them to Taganrog

This drone video, which appears to show Russian soldiers shooting an unarmed civilian with their hands up, is pretty damning.

According to the article, the car contained also a woman and child and the Russian troops led them out into the forest - they were not seen again. The car was towed away and burned. The man's body was dumped in a ditch.

Update:
* The shots that killed the man, also killed his wife inside the car.
* "appears to show Russian soldiers" is confirmed. Russian marked tank, Russian soldiers.
* The "woman and child and the Russian troops led them out into the forest - they were not seen again", were the couple's six year old son, and the mother's friend, who was injured in the shooting.
* "out into the forest" is incorrect. More complete footage shows they were led towards the building (gas station?) nearby.
* "they were not seen again" is incorrect. Both the six year old boy and his mother's friend were later let go by the Russians.

Trigger warning...
Russian soldiers raping and sexually assaulting women, says Ukraine MP

Maria Mezentseva said Ukraine will ‘not be silent’ about the attacks, which are considered war crimes

* Speaking on Sky News’ Sophy Ridge on Sunday, Mezentseva said: “There is one case which was very widely discussed recently because it’s been recorded and proceeded with [by] the prosecutor’s office, and we’re not going into details, but it’s quite a scary scene when a civilian was shot dead in his house in a small town next to Kyiv. “His wife was – I’m sorry but I have to say it – raped several times in front of her underage child.” After the attack, the soldier is believed to have threatened the child.

* She said cases were being underreported, and added that she hoped that the UK could pass on expertise on how to support victims in the aftermath of crimes. ... She added: “We will definitely not be silent.”

* Her words echoed those of fellow Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko, who addressed UK MPs earlier in March and said Russian soldiers were sexually assaulting and raping women. She said: “We have reports of women being gang-raped. These women are usually the ones who are unable to get out. We are talking about senior citizens. Most of these women have either been executed after the crime of rape or they have taken their own lives.”

German FinMin Lindner apparently told Ukraine’s ambassador ⁦@MelnykAndrij on the day of the invasion there was no point in sending Kyiv weapons because “you’ve only got a few hours left” before Moscow installs a puppet govt.

According to @bellingcat
the Russian FSB paid billions of $ to ensure that some shadowy political class in Ukraine supported this war & created an internal coup d'état immediately after the invasion. But Ukrainian agents who took the money ditched them. They just screwed them over

Meduza tells the story of Albert Sakhibgareyev — a Russian contract soldier who deserted from the war in Ukraine

At the beginning of February 2022, his brigade was sent to Belgorod region, near the Ukrainian border, to conduct some exercises. “They didn’t warn us about any ‘special military operation’; we were just going to do some training. After arriving, we just sat there, waiting for something,” Sakhibgareyev told Meduza.

On February 24, the brigade began firing from artillery vehicles “in whatever direction they were ordered.” Sakhibgareyev claims none of the soldiers knew what targets they were shooting at. The servicemen started to suspect this was something more than an exercise when the other side started firing back. Shells began landing in a district about two kilometers from Sakhibgareyev’s brigade. “We realized something was wrong. Training is never conducted close to villages where people live, but that’s where [the shells] were falling. It meant Ukraine must be shooting in the opposite direction to defend itself.”

Sakhibgareyev had his phone with him, and he soon read online that Russia had begun invading Ukraine. “We realized our armed forces had attacked [Ukraine]. We realized this was a real war. We were all in shock. We weren’t really prepared for this.”
