The operations plan would include a variety of BRC evacuation plans. Having drivable shoulders would really help bring evacuated vehicles to 447 N & S at the Y.

If there are drivable shoulders, they WILL be driven on, both inbound and outbound, emergency or not. Nature abhors a vacuum, ( Aristotle et al., Physics, Book IV, section 8 ) and some burners will not be able to resist an "empty" alternate lane. The gridlock that may occur at chokepoints where lanes converge, like the Y should be addressed.

The solution? Obviously more cops, and all the baggage that law enforcement saturation patrolling brings.

also, there's gold in them thar hills...

"The Bureau of Land Management has approved the Mountain View gold exploration project north of Gerlach.

The project will be located within a 3,328-acre area of public lands about 16 miles north of Gerlach in Washoe County.

With this approval, Millennial NV LLC may explore for gold through up to 400 acres of phased surface-disturbing activities and baseline data collection to assess mineral development potential. Any future potential mining would include further environmental review and potential opportunities for public comment."

From what I understand Gerlach drinking water and geothermal waters drain from the North. Usually gold mining crushes the ore and concentrates the gold using cyanide. That can leak into the groundwater.

Suggest alerting BMORG government relations.
