And here I was about ready to kill--i mean poof at--I mean irritated--at BHA for making me think about "Brainwash" and getting it stuck in my head. It's almost as bad as hearing the Beastie Boys whenever Cookiepuss posts.

Man, I'm loving the new Neko Case album (yes, I still call them "albums"), The Tigers Have Spoken. They're playing selections from it on a daily basis on my local college radio station, WUTC.

[I love WUTC! They're one of the best radio stations that I've ever listened to, in any of the cities that I've ever lived in. They have a streaming internet broadcast at: http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/wutc/ppr/wutc.asx]

I love Neko's voice; she has a quite a set of pipes on her.

Check out this song, If You Knew, from the album.

Here's the link to download the song (~6 Mb):

...but it seemed like such a good idea at the time...

One of Bowie's best, Guin.

I remember tape recording it off the radio when I was a kid and paying it for my parents who were entertaining company. I told them all it made me feel something I had never felt before. "That's nice, son". Fuck them, I was having my first melencholy experience and realized it was even better to just feel it and not share.

Listened to his Lodger yesterday:
"You know who I am he said. The speaker was an angel. He coughed and shook his crumpled wings, closed his eyes and moved his lips. 'It's time we should be going...'"

I do love their band name though. It came from when they were touring the clubs. The marquee would say "Tonight only: Barenaked Ladies," and lots of people would show up for some reason.

G.B. Shaw did a similar thing when he was mad at his pubicists, naming one of his plays "Closed For Remodeling." All the handbills said the name of the theatre, and then "closed for remodeling." The show was a flop until someone caught on and renamed it.

It is of great comfort that someone else finds "easy listening" a non-starter. The very idea of music that's so bland it's unoffensive to all is very offensive to me.

Yeah I got in trouble once at the bar I was working. I found one of those superlong cassettes for their muzak system labeled "mortuary".

Per the radio shack double-male connection wire- if they have a long enough one fairly cheap, then that's the way to go, just make sure it's stereo.

If they want more for it than it would cost to assemble one yourself using two male-end connectors (also available at radio shack), then you can just make one long enough to reach your stereo. It's really easy. 50 feet of speaker wire can be gotten at the 99 cent store if you're really on a budget.

The Ipod w/fm transmitter is a good idea, that would also let you transmit to a friend's stereo which is really cool (though pricey) but for the car stereo, depending on your budget and technical ability, Best Buy right now has one, an Aiwa I think, that plays mp3s, comes with a remote, and has a front auxiliary input jack that you can plug anything that has a headphone jack into and play through your car stereo. Again, you'll need a double male end connector to plug into the walkman or whatever, and the front aux input of the Aiwa car stereo.

And it's only $150 or so.

I was using an FM transmitter until I got this one, and it's just way easier and quicker to just plug the thing in and start it playing. Has better sound quality too.

And if you go that way, don't buy an FM Transmitter from best buy or whatever, better ones for cheaper can be found on the net.
Be the dime you seek.

Let's just say that Mythodea is what I put on when circumstances find me without a means of acquiring sex or chocolate :)

It's so good that I can crank it up and the neighbours don't, wouldn't think of, complaining.

I played it in my car stereo when I travelled down to the '03 Burn.

Lisa Gerard may be the closest the human race comes to having a truly angelic voice, but Kathleen Battle has the voice of Goddess, and Vangelis isn't lost in the fallout.
