BM Assailant now in Custody.
As of this morning the perp is in custody in Seattle. He can make bail and appear at the hearing in Lovelock Nev. on his own or be extradited.
Not really sure how I feel about it right now....stunned?....There is no particular joy or feeling of revenge, just some relief I guess. It has been a long nearly five month grind to make this happen which just meant I had to think about it every day.
I went back and forth a lot on how to handle this and I guess I wanted to send the message that 1) BM is not perfect and we don't need to be to survive 2) BM is not a place where you can do anything you want without fear of consequences
There's not much I can get back other than some money and will lean towards restitution over retribution at this point.
Not quite closure but much much closer.
Thanks for all your help, thoughts, notes etc.
Hope to see you all this year! Stop by Media Mecca and I'll show ya my scar and give you some free coffee!

A start. There's not much I can get back other than some money and will lean towards restitution over retribution at this point.
Perhaps following through with what you feel needs to happen will end up resonating in a positive way. Maybe for the both of you. What the perp did was wrong. You can bring judgement against his actions and still remain detached for judging him.
Accountability is a dman good thing in my book.

Quick $.02.
Before you assume jail time would be detrimental, think on this. Me and my friend Rich were best of friends from about 16 to about 23. Inseperable.
We did a lot of illegal type of things toghether. I got busted, my parents didn't put up a fight (refused to, in fact), and I went to jail at age 17 for 4 1/2 months. Rich got busted, his mother paid for the best legal counsel around, and got him off. On several occasions. Rich went on to have 4 DUIs and never spent a day in jail.
I spent 14 years taking the hard road, work during the day and community college at night. I also spent 6 years as a Navy SeaBee (reserve) out of a sense of owing something to society. I managed to squeek out a BS supplimented by an eletronic vocational degree. I had no desire to spend my life with my old schoolmates, in and out of jail for life. I knew jail was not for me.
Rich decided to leave high school without a diploma. He made OK money in sales, or whatever he happened to be doing. He could sell refridgerators to eskimos and he was a talented musician. Well, he recently filed for social security benefits based upon his Turet's syndrome (a mild case that never interupted his work or music). When he was denied, his mother spent tons of money on lawyers. It was overturned, and Rich got his benefits.
The result? I work in a Forbes top ten company. I do pretty good for myself, enjoy my work,I have enough toys to make me happy for years, and I will retire very nicely. Rich is living in HUD (low income) housing, doesn't work anymore, is an alcoholic, and spends his time alternately bitching about how life treated him unfairly or how much the government owes him in life.
Sometimes people just need a 'spanking'. Words can only do so much.

Why do I get a mental image of you pressed against your car's front windshield, with nothing but black vinyl surrounding you? Kind of a reverse airbag?Rian Jackson wrote:I confess that I'm going to steal your bean bag couch.
Um, say, wanna help me remove a wall to put it in the apartment?

Shorter. My methodology is as follows:bullD wrote:ohh the visuals. 10' lengths in a car that is how long?Rian Jackson wrote:You should see me transporting 10' lengths of thick PVC in my little honda.
anybody down for some auto jousting?
Wedge the PVC lengths diagonally from the from corners of the car back and up. They should pass out the rear side windows and fit between the front seats and the door. Attempt to fasten a seatbelt - I've learned that strapping them in with you is the better way to go - and get on out of town. It's pretty hard to get back in the car yourself, so it takes some monkeying. And you don't want to drive too fast because they catch a lot of wind.
It adds a lot to the height of the vehicle, but it's FAR better than laying them diagonally across the car both ways, because that adds a lot of width to the vehicle. My method, awkward as it is, adds none.
Oh, and bullD - envision an 87 civic. That should help your mental image.

For beating thread jackers.
In case the tone is tough to distinguish this is meant to be humorous and also a nod to the fact that this is going way off topic.

Originally to build a shade structure. I never used it though, have quickly learned that what i got wasn't the best material to build what I needed.
I have no problem with the flights of fancy this particular thread has taken; I see no reason why Isotopia should state the obvious (really, the best work I've ever seen her do) nor why Sammich should be moaning about it. Besides, it would be dead otherwise.

you think i'd be running off and getting married??? *shudder*

well, it would seem to conflict with your surliness. Yours truly almost made that, eh hem, mistake. Fortunately I smarted up and started asking the hard questions. Surprised the shit out of me, she was honest when I asked, have to give her credit for that, at least. Hmmmm, expiration dates, that's a good idea.Rian Jackson wrote:nah, it just expired. it was never made legal. yeah, no worries. But, I think all you need to know is that she is from France, a very talented actress, and had much to gain by making it legal. Her honesty was not cut-n-dry, I had to make inferences, and when one nails it, there are no stories or continued lies to to dig out of the proverbial hole.

And there is the #1 WRONG reason to get married (this coming from the knowledge of my Catholic upbringing).
because...I...need...to...get...laid!!!
The worst reason ever. Get a fucking hooker for fuck's sake. And ALWAYS 'sample the goods' before you make a lifetime commitment. Sexual compatibility is not always a learned trait.
For those that care, yes I know I'm going to hell. Best place for me really, life wasn't teaching me anything.
