ooh ooh, me!
yer right on in that. after you're done dealing with the creep, wander over to ranger hq, and let them know:
(a) a description of the guy (physical attributes are worth more than outfit), and how he was behaving, and
(b) your name and how they can get a hold of you if they need more information.
there is a log book that incidents liike this are entered into (though sometimes sporadically, and back when i did that stuff it seemed to be kind of a black hole) so that after a couple of occurances they've got enough information (and contacts) to do something about it.

To get even more specific, some kinds of descriptions are better than others. For example:III wrote:a description of the guy (physical attributes are worth more than outfit)
is useful. However, even more useful might be something like this:Five-ten, shoulder-length brown hair, metal-frame glasses, blue eyes, earring in left ear
Can you see the subtle yet important distinction here?Hunched over to about four-six, brown hair crudely hacked off to an inch in length, broken glasses held together by duct tape, two black eyes, and a gash in the left earlobe.

Oooh ooh! - don't forget "appears to be in considerable testicular pain". I'm sure that would help the rangers too!Flux wrote:To get even more specific, some kinds of descriptions are better than others. For example:III wrote:a description of the guy (physical attributes are worth more than outfit)

It's all about the squirrels.
thanks for the chimes. next time, and i hope there isn't one, i/we will be better prepared for this type of stuff. --(you know when something happens and you kinda lock-up and not think right on the pin, i think that's what happened. -- occupying this slug while the girl made her distance.)
we were so disposed of interacting with this super creep, that we didn't connect with making the right follow up. this year would have been different as we camped with a ranger and a fire member.

You did just fine
After all you did prevent a vile crime. The only reason I might have done any better is because I'm with an Emergency Services/X-Ranger guy.shitmouse wrote:thanks for the chimes. next time, and i hope there isn't one, i/we will be better prepared for this type of stuff. --(you know when something happens and you kinda lock-up and not think right on the pin, i think that's what happened. -- occupying this slug while the girl made her distance.)

And the discussion has been good as a dry-run, think-things-through exercise for me in case I run into something sometime.
actually...

hindsight is always 20/20, right.. It's definitely hard to think straight about what to do when you witness some of this stuff.. you're just concentrating on stopping what's happening. You supported that girl and helped her get away safely, and let him know what he was doing wasn't okay, which was way more than anyone else did. Its really kind of strange how many people will notice something amiss and still not do anything. I remember seeing a 14 yr old girl being dragged, kicking and screaming, off the sidewalk in Montreal once. these two guys were trying to stuff her into a van. Her little street punk friends were trying to hold on to her, but these two guys were stronger. So my (female) friend and I jumped in, each of us got minorly roughed up, but the freaky thing is that this happened on a busy street with lots of big strong men, and none of them helped us out. Well one big guy was calling 911 on his cell, but the only people who jumped into the fray were myself, my friend, this 60 yr old lady who was yelling at the attacker, and this young skinny dude on rollerblades. It was fucked.

gabegirl,
be careful when intereacting with people in these kinds of interaction being a female. -(i don't mean this in a sexist way at all).
8 years ago my wife was involved in a violent attack and recieved a head injury that changed both of our lives. she came out of the bar we were at to put a coat away in the car.
upon her getting to the car, sue see's a guy ripping the car off, so she steps in and confronts him. he throws her to the ground, sue gets back up and confronts him again! --- he throws her to the ground again, only this time cracking the base of her skull in the back.
from that day forward, my wife had to exit her graduating year at the university of denver, and start years of intense therapy. she even had to work with a strategist to show her how to go to king soopers to get food shooping done without getting scrambled in the light and noise there that would make her fall down and convulse.
it's a tough line when to act on something, and best done with a partner. you did as i did to step in and confront the problems, and your a saint for doing so. just please be carefull when dealing with certain situations.
it's been a long 8 years and in the end, she could have been shot and killed.
hugs,-b

Dunno. I take this as be a sucker and implicitly trust everyone. Seems to me Mr.shshsh is a) a guy who b) never had a friend or sister raped. Not sure what magic detector he has that tells you who is honest. And for some mistaken reason, he believes rape hasn't been happening for millions of years. And here I thought it was more prevelant the farther back in history you go. My bad.Plutonium_shshsh wrote:and learn to trust honest men. This has been happending for perhaps millions of years. bitch all you want - it won't change nothin.
Remember, you should always have a 'safe' word or phrase-just in case things start getting out of control. If I may amend... violent consensual sex can be awesome, if both parties are aware of the limits and boundries of the other person....

Then you might want to start a new thread, as one who'd been a victim of sexual violence might be re-traumatized by the idea.III wrote:so, to completely switch tracks on this thread, am i the only one here who likes my sex a little violent? cause that's what i thinnk about every time i see this thread title.
