Note to toolmaker -

Don't post as a quote as it's extra layers to distill it back to its original post. Then it can (and shall) be dealt with.

Which is, your well deserved free tickets, your upgrade, or the diamond ring seller?

That would be crushing the seller. My powers include Far Distance Sight into Showers, so beware. The free tickets are on the fridge, along with the $975 fireball.

Well, how about that? At least the spammer posted a perfect example of why he should be deleted right in the case studies thread!

Just so you know... there's a spammer who has been doing variations of this name game. We are watching him and his ilk...

BTW - I killed the link - force of habit. But we have his "particulars" now on file anyway... Thanks!!!

Please note that I redirected seamountain here from Regionals and Events to discuss why a business may not be posted on eplaya. Yes, the terms of Service have been pointed out, but I told him (?) the community would be happy to discuss our no commerce rule.

And a note, we are in the process of creating and defining a sticky to provide clearer guidelines as to what may be posted in E&R.

Please discuss. And Play Nice, m'kay?

That's exactly why there's been a number of us hashing out guidelines to be posted. I always went for a more relaxed board, but apparently we're to have none of that. Geez. I apologize for being too nice and too lax.

I told this person to come to case studies after I pulled the original posts from R&E, and they objected. And yeah, I'm handing it out to the community, and the other mods may well disagree with the way I did this. The post above may or may not last ...

I'm tired of explaining things. I was busy with real spam. No offense, seamountain, but yes, I would count your spa as advertising, but since you say you're a burner, I thought you could get some discourse going.

Nice timing too, if I were paranoid, I'd think this was a set-up.

There are quite a few people that have commercial websites on their posts. RIght next to profile, pm then www. A bunch of them. That is commercial use of this board. Plus seamountain discriminates.

As far as the spa goes it sounds like a gift to the community. I only see 2 problems.

1) No radical inclusion.. ie no single males allowed but single chicks are.. sounds like a swingers club and not a nudist resort. The gay couple inclusion does give the resort a brownie point though.

2) Things like this tend to have strings attached.. like the campground membership rackets.. "come for a free weekend" and listen to a commerce sales pitch 3 times a day about membership and while there you wind up spending cash for food, drink, etc.

I think I have heard of this place before and if memory serves it is indeed a swingers club thats members only and charges fees just to walk in the door. Maybe if they added a rave once a month and associated a themecamp with it can go back to R&E. :)

I see the spa stuff as commerce. And I think Anti M made the right call in pulling the post, no matter how vocal any whining might be about it.

If that post is allowed back up, then open a section up for all commerce. Of course that flies in the face of what the BM.org does with the actual event and I thought that the reason this board truly existed in the first place was to be a virtual extension of the playa...with all the socio-political rules transferring over.

Why should commerce in any form be allowed now? We've fought it tooth and nail for 6 years that I know of...so why introduce it now? I know people hate it when I bring up the board's past...but the precedent is commerce is not acceptable here. Can anyone other than the spa owner offer a compelling argument as to why so many years of precedent should be tossed?

Notice that there is no flexibility on the ban of single men LOL. I am not a single guy but I do believe in radical inclusion.. as much as that may hurt sometimes.

K4: I was under the distinct impression that commerce rules have changed to allow for raves and commerce links in profiles. I have seen everything among the www links in folks profiles.. photogs, rvcamps, nightclubs, pharmaceutical sales, auto parts, credit, bancruptcy, porn etc etc.. I figure we have no less than 2000 link farmers on hand with www links and all of em with ZERO posts on eplaya. We also have some regulars who I will not mention with commerce links in their profile (KARL BABA) oops I slipped that are permitted since it is loosely art related ie pictures taken of other people without their permission to sell commercially.

My personal opinion is that ALL commerce should be verboten. Even the raves that happen on a monthly basis, which happens 4 times at 4 different venues throughout the month in one city. (this is where more folks plonk me) I believe in the GIFT ECONOMY.. this means NO CHARGE! When I had made extra springs I didn't try to shill for shipping costs or material costs.. the thread said FREE and I meant it. Another good example is the wonderful burner that provides batteries FOR FREE. No mention of even trying to get some gas money for luggin the things home. I wish I recalled the name so I could give due credit to this wonderful example of a person that GIFTS. I think its burnerboy or something like that.
