This is the 2nd time I've seen this film described as "burny." Okay, I saw it first or 2nd run back when it was released and remember it as rather dry and included turtle murdering.

That was my guess.
It's not that I'm against slow movies, (heck, already in the 80s Pepsi Commericals were exausting me with all those rapid cuts, ect.) It just seemed like a slow and pointless movie to me.
It was out about the same time as another turtle movie--the Last Emporor.
