Anarchists versus Green

Post by ecosutra » Tue Sep 04, 2007 3:48 pm

Ok, I just got back to burningman. I have big concerns if I am to ever attend again.

1- Burningman event planners need to invest in a solar thermal hydrogen generator and then everyone can plug into the grid.

2- BM has officially gotten to big- I can barley breath the air form all the art cars. There is no reason each art car should be a hybrid with a trailer or something. Unless your a bus.

3- I did not appreciate the disgruntelness of the Art/ independent/ anarachists who have no concern about getting green. I think the ego and arrogance from all the DJ club camps was disgusting. The arena has changed and become a poser fest of pretentious loosers who have no clue whats coming. The tipping point of unsustainable greed were the freak club scum.
Burningman is the superbowl of turning points to get to a sustainable camp permanently

I could argue with you on so many levels. But enjoy your vacation to harvest green coffee in costa rica next labor day.

Let me get this right...

Art cars are formed out of air? Wow. Guess art car makers have been having us all on when they say they spent [x] amount of dollars on them.

Barley breath? You been hitting the beer again?

And where exactly is "big?" Or did you mean they're bigging? How does one big?

What's an anarachist? Someone who follows a spider?

(Sorry, couldn't resist taking a swipe at this guy's spelling skills...maybe we can have an event where we read wildly misspelled posts in the grand tradition of The Eye of Argon...)

We interrupted this program for the following announcement...

Tired of bickering about BM? Well, hop on over to Positive Vibes About Great Art and Acts over at 2007 Art and Performance. Say something positive about BM...it wont kill ya!

We return to our regularly scheduled programming....

Plasma fusion is the energy solution of the future.

And will always be.
You make a declarative statement about a potential energy source that doesn't quite exist.

I'm curious. How can it always be when it almost isn't?

Miniature, man-made black hole power generators are the energy solution of the future! Or, at least are until we can figure out how to tap the energy of parallel universes!

Well, in theory the cat-buttered bread perpetual motion device would deliver an unlimited energy supply. Of course, in reality, the cat always somehow manages to lick the butter off of the bread, and any restraint capable of preventing the feline consumption of the butter results in a net power loss. Therefore, I shouldn't even bring it up.... :?

But, but how can the cat lick the butter off the bread when we all know that the butter always lands floor side down when dropped off the kitchen counter.

i believe the point is that plasma fusion will always be touted as the next great thing, yet will never be attained.

kind of like a green burningman.

Well, that is half the point of the hypothetical generator. The other half is the cat, which always lands on its feet. The buttered bread is strapped, butter side up, to the cat's back. The cat/buttered bread combo is then dropped. Since neither side can land (since that would leave the other side up, which is impossible) the cat/bread combo will spin in place for all eternity. The difficulty that cats are extremely dexterous and view butter as a treat; therefore, will lick the butter off the bread, allowing the cat to land on its feet. As stated, there have been proposed mechanisms to prevent the cat from eating the butter, but they all make the mechanism energy inefficient. Thus the cat/buttered bread engine remains purely hypothetical.

At least until the straps, via centrifugal force, cut through the bread, at which time the bread will fly off, and the cat will land on its feet.

True. I don't know as anyone has actually got a cat to hold still long enough to have the bread strapped to it in the first place, to be honest!

Well, sure, if you get the cat drunk in the first place! But that just ruins the engine, since a drunk cat isn't coordinated enough to land on its feet in the first place! Sheesh! I thought that this went without saying! (I can't quite read the bottle, but I hope it was a good brand of beer, not just some cheap stuff from the neighborhood convenience store.)

BTW, I like the expression on the cat's face.
