First:
whinge intr.v.
whinged, whing·ing, whing·es
Chiefly British. To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.
Then:
Imagine. Someone gives you a concept to play with and mold in any fashion you wish. You have the power to develop, destroy, mutate, or ignore this concept. Everyone else is given the same opportunity. It is in many ways a doorway to anywhere that you have been invited to step through. It seems trite to bitch about such an opportunity because one disagrees to the initial placement of this doorway.
Am I an american? Yep. Could I appreciate a 1/10 scale model of the statue of liberty made out of bone and excrement. Yep. Though not as ancient as the lands of old queens, I would say that the us'ov'a provides more than enough grist for the artmill. I have chosen to prioritize more local events next year and so will (w/95% probability) be skipping BRC to go to Nowhere, but I still am very confident that there will be some spectacular and provocative art that comes out of this theme.
Or perhaps we should all just go back to the good old days when art was not controversial. Or maybe the theme should just be, "Shut up and art", or "Free Art Zone" where all of the art has to be placed in a chicken-wire enclosure...no scratch that last one, that is just an installation...to bad that would not fit into next year's theme...
