Burning Thoughts

Post by cowboy_logic » Thu Feb 14, 2008 2:36 pm

What do you think of when the Man burns on Saturday night?

I’ve been collecting answers to this, and there are common themes. One strong thread: a burner thinks about letting go of a part of themselves that she has held onto up to know. A fear. A façade.

Two burns ago, my thought as the Man was coming down was, “That’s my fear of being creative. Bye!â€

Saturday? I thought it was Sunday! That explains all the ruckus.

I was kinda disappointed in Burn 2007v2.0. When compared to the Oil Derrick it was a let down. Too much foreplay.

Yeah, the fire conclave's great, but wouldn't napalm be faster?

I thought Fuck!
Somebody really did set fire to the man early.

It would be a shame if I had to resort to self-deception to preserve my faith in objective reality.

"Do I circle or do I run away"

"Will my fur catch on fire?"

"This is like being reborn"

Those thoughts all ran through my head when I watched the man burn in 06 the only year I have been.

I hope to have even better ones this year though.

"You actually bring your bike to the burn?"

Yea... my accordion weighs about 17 pounds... so I always throw it onto a basket on my bike... love to jam before and after the burn.

I "don't leave home without it"
