Yeah, and it seems to be overloading the server. Getting intermittent
errors when logging in.

i don't think that's midget's site. he's just forwarding information along with half the rest of the burning man world today.

plus, it didn't take long for me to get to the "but what's it good for" stage.

someone recently said that community is what happens when you're waiting for the thing that you got together to do - it's the small talk, the chatting, the passing time together. it's about unstructured communication with each other. and 6db has nuthin to provide for that.

i did not see anything on the site that led me to believe it was trying to be another eplaya alternative.

but I do fondly refer to you as a social engineering fetishist

But what, exactly, is it trying to be? As far as I can tell, it's a Burner
phone book.

i don't see it as trying to be anything. It's at the very least a fun toy, someone's art project. Intersting enough that several hundred people have bothered to check it out.

it's also a nicely deisgned front page. I prefer it to this site, http://www.burningman.com/, for example.

stuart always gets it.

Still something needs to be done about the security.Image after all, would'nt be the most conciderate thing to do? just hope burners are'nt putting any personal info in that site.

A privacy statement for sixdegreeburn will be written soon, thanks SQLGuru. This site has gone from less than 200 members a few days ago to 349 members yesterday to 766 today. Anyhoo, here's the lowdown from Bru-che who created it. (Kudo's to Jefferson Starship for the artwork, and SQLGuru for... well, SQL stuff).

Bru-che wrote:
Why?

Some folks are asking me "why" I created this site. I am not an artist, so it's hard for me to compete with all you creative types out there that bring so much culture to the community. However, I can do a bit of coding, and there are many things I've seen on the playa that I've wanted to know more about you can't talk to 30,000 people in a week. This makes me feel like I can contribute to the community and helps me find out more about all the art you create. And getting some of the encouraging emails from legendary folks that are the heart and soul of Burning Man is pretty rewarding too.

Privacy Statement

Many people have been really paranoid about me not having a privacy statement. Never thought about it.
I don't even know where to begin with such a thing.
I did not begin this site to gather information about anyo! ne, none of your emails are leaving my database…
Even you passwords are "hashed" before they are stored in the database. Someone looking at the db could not decipher them, here's what mine looks like: F01B7850D5D3C61C58EB4FFF715EFBEF
The server is NOT stored at my home, it is at a reputable hosting service with all the necessary security.
