Yup, I know this feeling. My radical self expression tends to be an inner experience. I may look like a tourist, but given a chance, I might do some magic for you, or share in your enthusiasm for what is happenning all around us. Somebody shouted "boo! tourist!" at me last year. I danced away (on the inside) I should have just gone and given them a big hug and a smile. I made up a little jingle and song: "I need to be here more than you know.'

All this stuff might be easier with alcohol, but I punched all the dots on my lifetime drinks card 14 years ago. So this year, if I'm not up for a real costume, I am trying at least for COLOR, and a great hat with lots of lights on it. Also I built a chopper bicycle. It's a work in progress, and I'm willing to practice practice practice. I went solo last year, me and my stuff. This year I am meeting my neighbors from last year. Really nice people.

Go and let go. You might wonder why you didn't go sooner.

Burners should be able to do the same things with or without alcohol.
Isn't that why we are who we are?

Thanks, everyone, for your encouraging words. I am much looking forward to the event, looking at different costumes and fun things. : P
Hopefully, there is chance to wander and explore alone. : )

Grace

You know what you are xanafairy? Pure Grace. Remember that when you feel separate and remember it is absolutely so for every other person - even if they aren't acting "right" in your estimation. Grace. Of course judging is a losing proposition so stop that if you find yourself doing it, especially judging yourself harshly...that never works out. See all the Universe as Grace and you fit right in! I like you already just for being vulnerable enough to talk about it :-).

burn

Post by xanaxfairy » Tue Sep 16, 2008 9:47 am

I had a great burn all in all. At some points, yes, I felt as though I were about to have a seizure from overstimulation (blinky lights and all)...but it was an amazing experience and one hell of a camping trip. : )
But one burner gave me the best advice which was "Wherever you go, there you are." And that's true....especially on the playa.

That is the best quote I have ever heard from the playa. Thank you for sharing that, you made my day! :D
