Guess who was president? Eisenhower- and I don't think he was a Democrat.
The "insurgency" started pretty much right after that.
Yes, the war escalated under Kennedy & Johnson, but Nixon (oh, a Republican maybe?) is the one who spread it region wide (Laos, Cambodia) and undermined his own negotiators at the Paris conferences to increase his political power at home, extending the war for years beyond necessary, all because he wanted an unbeatable Republican majority to rule for as long as possible (many references on this, but Nixonland by Rick Perelstein is fantastic on the reasoning of this)

Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ), as he took over the presidency after the death of Kennedy, did not consider Vietnam a priority and was more concerned with his "Great Society" and progressive social programs.[69] Johnson had a difficult time with American foreign policy makers, specifically Averill Harriman and Dean Acheson, who to Johnson's mind spoke a different language.[70] Particularly heated was the relationship between the new president and national security advisor McGeorge Bundy. Shortly after the assassination of Kennedy, when Bundy called LBJ on the phone, LBJ responded:betrdanevr wrote:"We should declare war on North Vietnam. . . .We could pave the whole country and put parking strips on it, and still be home by Christmas.littleflower wrote:funny, i always thought it was the democrats who got us into the vietnam war...

"Goddammit, Bundy. I've told you that when I want you I'll call you."[71]
Maybe Reagan was right in his statement we will never know. What we do know is that Johnsons on and off bombing, appeasement method did not work.

I have to agree with most of what you say. However, I think it is ideal and may not work all that well in practice especially in such a huge company like AIG. I believe some not so free market ideas are necessary at times. For example many things in the financial system now appear to be broken because of the laissez-faire approach to appropiate regulation by the SEC. Several companies such as AIG have been allowed to be destroyed by short sellers ganging up on the company (the SEC did not enforce the "naked shorting rules already on the books and they got rid of the uptick rule). Now days with computer programs to figure out what is under attack and send instant sell orders to the market it is not fair to the majority of the common stockholders. This puts the whole capitalist system under attack which may cheer up the Marxists on the thread. Unfortunally these people are never happy, they do not even see the good side (from a marxist point of view). The government is confiscating - taking over the equity from the common stockholder.ygmir wrote:I agree.

Do that through forced charity/taxation........

I stand by my statement, in that, I feel any senator gets and holds office through nefarious means...........I don't feel any of them are "good and pure" people...........both sides.........Apollonaris Zeus wrote:Facts pleaseygmir wrote:

I had an "IMHO" in the original draft, that, I guess I deleted.
If you're asking me to google Biden and then post links or extended text to support specific accusations, I'll not waste that time.
If I did that, his supporters will deny it, and, his detractors embrace it, and, it will change no ones mind anyway.....
I get frustrated at the posting of so much information about candidates that is either impertinent or not supportable.......and then, depending on your POV, it's embraced or tossed.......
I would challenge anyone to state that he, or any senator, has not been involved in corrupt actions, illegal activities, obfuscation, and outright lies........
I just don't think that's the case.........
I go back to my statement: "throw all the bums out and lets start over"......I have no sympathy for any of them.........
I just see, on boards of either political persuasion, and unfairness in accusation taking rumor or innuendo as fact........
I'd love to see both candidates held to the same light, and, judged the same.......
It so often is a matter of degrees:
"My person did it, but, not nearly as much or as bad as yours",
things like that.
I find the discussion here very interesting and stimulating, but, have no notion that any of it will change anyones mind.
I cringe when people get so personal and vitriolic in their attacks on each other, though.......
not that I think we should all hold hands and sing, I just think it doesn't need to be mean, degrading, or hurtful......
we have more in common than differences, IMHO.

You failed to say that the chair of the so called bipartisan inveatigation (witch hunt) is a obamanition supporting dumocrat. The dumocrat chair in Alasks is only a pawn.
Council members on Monday confirmed Sen. Kim Elton, D-Juneau, as the new chairman, and he said he'll be the one who signs the contract with the person hired to do the Monegan investigation.
The council tapped Anchorage Democratic Sen. Hollis French, a former state prosecutor, for the task of managing the contractor conducting the investigation.

I wonder why Obama doesn't want women to be able to defend themselves from rapists. Their response is to call 911 whenever you need help. You know.. the folks that arrive just in time to draw a chalk outline.
I wonder why Democrats are so opposed to the victims in Wash DC being able to defend themselves from the criminals that have almost fully taken over DC. Last time I was in DC the whole place was a crime ridden ghetto outside of a FEW small areas. DC finally gets a chance to give some power back to the people and the Dems decide to come out and support the criminals by saying only they can have guns.
Starting to look like McCain may win now that Barack Obama has let slip that he is anti-gun.

Track Palin (Track) [Edit]

* The emails to Ivy Frye, a Palin aide who's mentioned in the earlier email stories specifically wondering how best to hide her correspondence with the governor.
* The attached contact list (below) features an email address for husband Todd Palin that is legit. As well as an apparently genuine phone number for Bristol Palin and an address for Beth Leschper, Palin's deputy communications director.
* The email from Amy McCorkell, a known associate of Palin's from Wasilla who might have the governor's personal email address.
* Emails to and from Lt Governor Sean Parnell about a local radio talk host.
* Calls to the phone number listed for Bristol Palin apparently go to her voicemail.
* The public profile for the gov.palin address dates its last update to April of this year—well before she became McCain's running mate. So if it's a hoax, it's a hoax that began long before anyone outside of Alaska cared about Palin.
* We haven't seen these family photos before. Have we?
* The previously accessible public profiles for gov.sarah@yahoo and gov.palin@yahoo were both deleted at the same time.

I didn't find this myself.I already posted his previous votes on gun issues. On his website he mentions a desire to bring back the Clinton ban and get rid of carry concealed weapon licenses.
Can you show me where it is?

It is a bit hard to tell what is what without researching an entire life.
Is there any material that's easier to verify?

That should be right up there with warrant less wiretaps.
