Can't you figure out this anomaly about journalists?
It is precisely because they know what is going on, that they can't support republicans.
corporations like time/warner and GE are "owned" by thousands of people, not a few. and there are thousands of editors and journalists... the corporate heads couldn''t possibly fire them all. they are too busy running the business, and besides, who would write the news? you'd have trouble convincing me that the boards of these media companies are republican anyhow. there are a great many corporate fat cats who are democrats...especially in media.

as for journalists being democrat because they see what's going on ... that's a very simplistic argument. i rarely get through an article without having a great many questions about the conclusions reached by the journalist, many of which seem to me to be based on "conventional wisdom," polls, gross generalities, or unproven hypotheses. my own take is that journalism is a creative occupation, and creative people tend to be more liberal. unfortunately, i got stuck in an unhappy place between my massively educated conservative family and very well educated liberal creative friends. i am so used to being attacked by both sides for one reason or another that i'm forced to look at both sides and reach conclusions accordingly. i know few who bother. but i learn from both.

Palin Media Blackout Continues

http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/09 ... continues/

by Shushannah Walshe

FOXNews - 28 minutes ago

NEW YORK –It has been widely reported that Sarah Palin has yet to give a news conference or even answer a few questions from the traveling press that follow her from city to city on her plane. But, today the Palin camp went to new lengths to control the media, which is covering the GOP Vice-Presidential nominee.

It was decided by the campaign that today’s meetings with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Colombian president Alvaro Uribe, and Former Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger would be pooled. This means only one television network with their camera and producer, plus a print reporter, and wire reporters would be let in at the beginning of the meeting and then be ushered out before the leaders and Palin began talking. This is common practice in presidential campaigns, but this morning a little over one hour before the meetings would begin the pool network television producer and print poolers were told they were not allowed to enter the meetings.

This means that the Palin camp has the benefit of pictures of her shaking hands with world leaders and have that video broadcast all over the world, but there would be no risk of her having to answer even one question from a reporter at the beginning of the meetings. It is many television network’s policy, including Fox News Channel to not provide a camera if an editorial presence is not allowed in. Once the campaign realized that these pictures would not be seen they relented, but the print pool is still not allowed to enter the Karzai event, which is about to begin.

Palin has done two television interviews since her selection—with ABC’s Charlie Gibson and Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity. One reporter got close enough to Palin to ask her an impromptu question about the AIG bail-out, but that is the only spontaneous question she has gotten thrown at her since being rolled out as McCain’s number two.

It is traditional for the press traveling with a candidate to have some relationship with the candidate and special access because of all the hours logged on the plane and on the campaign trail. But, Palin still has not come back to answer any questions or talk to her press corps. The only time the press has met the Alaska governor is on her first solo flight three weeks ago and it was off the record. We shook hands with Palin and she was quickly ushered back to the front of the plane behind a gray curtain where she has remained for the three and a half weeks she has been a candidate.

nope:
I think my only point was that this happens on both sides, and, a lot.......the media twists one way, the candidate the other (sometimes), and, it's a tug of war.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose......

It just seemed that point was made to look like Palin, et al, are the only ones that do that sort of thing, and, that the media is only doing that to her.

I just like to see both sides painted with the same brush........

Of course, this comes from a disenfranchised politico, now anarchist, who, is embarrassed by both parties and their puppets, sock and otherwise.......

Thank you Simon! Your post is right the fuck on! (assuming your facts are true which I do not) but if they are true;
She will fit in very well with the rest of our BM community. Your post confirms that this girl has an open mind like most of us do.

Or did you mean to say something else; such as we are wrong to have an open mind?

Little Flower, I am sad to see you go PC. I thought your original post was spot on and needs to be said. There are several other suspects who may live, in a cave? surrounded by tvs and computers all set to leftist propaganda? and who do not even know any people who have a different opinion. That is sad that they have a closed mind and you were right to point that out.

They're ALL hypocrites, Simon, they ALL smell like shit. The second you go from being someone trying to help to being a politician you leap into the shit.

And parties--reps, dems, greens, socialists, libertarians, whatever name they attach to themselves are the generators of that shit. They're the assholes that pump it out.

Because every damned one of them is only in it to perpetuate themselves.

Know what I'd like to see? Someone, from any party, who's in it to do the damned job. Whose only re-election campaign consists of a single ad that goes something like this...

"Hi, I'm ________, I'm your ___________. I could be out wasting my time, your time and YOUR money campaigning, answering whatever ads anyone else who wants this office puts out. I'm not gonna do that. Instead, I'm gonna do the job I was elected to do--which doesn't include spending your money trying to get myself another term. I think I'm doing a good job, and if you think so too, you'll re-elect me. If you don't think I've been doing a good job them I've got no right to spend your money trying to convince you otherwise. I truly hope you'll let me continue to work for you. Thank you.

I'm ________________ and I approved this message."

THAT is what it really means to put neighborhood, school district, town, city, state or country FIRST.

If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'
Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers,  a quintessential American story.

If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic  Muslim. Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a  maverick.
Graduate from  Harvard law School and you are unstable.
Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating,   you're well
grounded.

If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community  organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years  as a Constitutional Law professor,   spend 8 years as a State Senator  representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United  States Senate representing a state of  13 million people while sponsoring 131  bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and  Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership  experience.

If your total resume is: local weather girl,   4  years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than  7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people,   then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking  executive.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19  years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches,   you're not a real Christian.

If you cheated on your first wife with a rich  heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month,   you're a Christian.

If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex  education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the  fiber of society.

If, while governor, you staunchly advocate  abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.

If your wife is a  Harvard graduate lawyer who gave  up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her  inner city community,   then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America 's.

If you're husband is nicknamed 'First Dude',   with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register  to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the  secession of Alaska
from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

Every natural born citizen of the United States who has attained the age of 35 is eligible to try to convince the rest of us that they should be President or Vice President.

There are no education requirements, no previous experience requirements, no morality requirements, not even an intelligence requirement. I think there is a residency requirement and a limit on those who have been convicted of serious crimes. Other than that?

You can be a slut, a terrorist, a racist, a drug user, a puritan, a libertine, gay, straight, religious, atheist and even a lunatic.

And, if you can get enough of the people behind you, you'll be President.

I think I'd rather see a small business owner with no big school education as president.........married or single.........no party affiliation.......
no experience in national politics at all.......
no super religious stuff......maybe Pagan?......grin......

no "high minded" taint.........perhaps just realistic goals......no foreign policy experience,

But, someone who can think, look at all sides, no big ego......

Of course, that person doesn't exist, and, if they did, they'd not want the job of president anyway, I'm sure.............

It seems so many politicians are people who can't make it in the real world........job or otherwise........so they enter politics because they know how to lie and obfuscate to convince people they mean what they say and will follow through on promises......and, for some reason, people still believe them........some do anyway........

How about going "back" to 50 separate nation/states ( I know "original" was 13), with a very limited federal presence.......
Naw, to many would lose out on the pork provided by others...........

ok,
rant over......

Yep. From what I've read, to run for president, one has to be thirty-five years of age and have been a resident of the U.S. for fourteen.

Now, THAT covers a lot of shit.

I prefer to be a little more discriminatory. . .

I'm pretty sure you have to be "natural born".......IE: born in the U.S. or it's sovereign territories.

I'm sure someone will google and post all the requirements.......
