Well I meant on my truck... not one in each hand and one hanging from... whatever else I had left that would fit through the handle.ibdave wrote:Captain Goddammit wrote:

Burning Man runs on electricity. Lots of it! And none of us "needs" BM at all.justfred wrote:Silly anti-electric biz
But that's my point. If it's a cool art project or musical creation, I bet other people might even want to help with getting it powered up.Captain Goddammit wrote:Burning Man runs on electricity. Lots of it! And none of us "needs" BM at all.justfred wrote:Silly anti-electric biz
Your specific art project, undoubtedly very cool, has low electric draw, but that doesn't go for the rest of Black Rock City. Let there be sparks!
My boat needs a few thousand watts just to run enough lighting to qualify for it's night time DMV license.
OK, now you just don't understand logistics.justfred wrote:
If it's the AC in the RV, which I think is more likely - I think staying home would be a better choice (and maybe that's why OP's tenter campmates didn't fit).
I understand logistics; a major part of logistics is don't take what you don't really need. What I don't understand is people who can't go camping in the desert for a week without bringing a metric crapload of unnecessary stuff so they have all the "comforts" of "home". I sleep fine in my (canvas, covered, ventilated as necessary) tent. But usually during the heat of the day I'm out participating. Been there 11 years, never set foot in an a/c metal box. Maybe the heat has gotten to my head. I do think there are a lot of people who choose comfort over partipation. If I'm going to go to the effort to haul shit out there (and in some cases burn it) I'd rather have something to share with the community than keeping myself comfortable; but to each her own.Captain Goddammit wrote:OK, now you just don't understand logistics.justfred wrote:

Having a cool, dark place to sleep during the hot part of the day is REALLY nice! Suffering while you try to sleep in a hot tent does not make you more of a Burner - just less prepared.
At Burning Man, there will be noise (WAY more noise than nice quiet Honda or Yamaha generators, or big 30 Kw Whisper-Watt diesels) and there will be fossil fuel burned and there will be lights.
If this doesn't sound acceptable to you, perhaps it's you that should stay home!
This is an event where people set up a city and burn shit. It's not a GreenPeace convention.
ygmir, can I borrow your smileys for a little bit?justfred wrote:Not sure about you (in a number of ways). But in my case, not bringing things I don't need allows me to afford to go at all. If I had to pay for a motorhome and gas and a generator, I wouldn't be able to attend, let alone create any art. It also takes a lot of stress off me - I don't have to worry about my motorhome breaking down on the road, or losing my deposit on the massive generator because it got dusty. Less stuff, to me, means less stress and more time to have fun. (shrug)

The point was, OP needs a generator, what for? The answer might be helpful in providing a solution.
I'm always happy to share a smile........Sail Man wrote:ygmir, can I borrow your smileys for a little bit?justfred wrote:Not sure about you (in a number of ways). Thanks man
I actually read a lot about overland expeditions, and while you have a valid point, a favorite pipe doesn't take up much room and effort, and you wouldn't ask your fellow travellers to schepp it along for you and provide the tabaccy, if they don't smoke.Best pay attention to the journals of the great explorers throughout history.
That's pretty much what I was suggesting. But maybe we're wrong, and they wanted to power a cool art project but didn't have buddies to go along with it. In which case, teamwork is a good thing. It looks to me like the OP just wanted to have the camp subsidize his A/C costs. I could be wrong in that.
Hypocrite... unless you're gonna offer any substance yourself!swaa wrote:it is great how all you folks did not answer the question. but had you own opinion that meant nothing true want a be burners

I am fairly sure about you. You have bitched but offered zero input toward solving the question at hand. The thread isn't about how you do BM, it's about setting up some electricity.justfred wrote:Not sure about you (in a number of ways).
