My 2nd burn and I've got 5 virgins to look after!
Salutations!
I first Burned in 07 with the Black Rock City Pirates (what sea-pirates are doing in the desert I'll never know), and through the last year I have shared stories of my experience with others. Many of which have jumped on board and joined my crew for this year!
It definitely changes things a bit when plans for a camp of one, become plans for a camp of 11 (five burn virgins included)!!
I just wanted to put myself out there and get to know other burners.
There ya go, I introduced myself.

Who says you gotta look after them?
I certainly wound up getting some help from my campmates last year (my first) but I didn't plan on it or count on it. I did everything I could to be prepared and I like to think I returned the help to the best of my ability.
I suggest you emphasize 'Radical Self-reliance' and 'Read the Survival Guide' to your virgins. Then you will only have to help with the fun stuff.

It is the duty of all freshmen to take care of the upperclassmen, I'm surprised you did not get this information from the Greeters in '07. '09 will be my fifth year, my post graduate term; it is therefore incumbant upon me to inform you of this requirement.
Be advised there are also Master Burners and Burners with PHD's in Burnology present on this Eplaya Campus. There are even a few Burners Emeritus that join us from time to time. So watch yousself or get a severe paddling with the Board of Edumacation.
As always , inform freshmen to wear their dinks untill their first Burn. I believe the Freshman/ Sophomore Scrum is Thursday at 6 PM at Dr. Pyros Barbie Death village. Be there or be a triangle.

...perhaps you may want to look at BoiJoy's post again. The way I read it "Butt Pirate" refers to Boijoy, not you......YMMV!Capt.LokiStarr wrote:Wow. i was under the impression that everyone here was supportive and friendly. And I don't know who told you Eplaya was friendly and supportive, those are not the terms I would choose. Crusty and Unforgiving of Fools might be a better description (and no, I am not calling you a Fool!)
Good Luck with your Virgins!

Salutations right back at you, Captn.LokiStarr!
My second year was in 2007, and I personally recruited seven virgins to my theme camp. We/they had a blast. Seeing their open-mouthed amazement was priceless! And of course, it was also fun to realize that I had been just as wide-eyed the year before.
Whenever you feel puzzled or offended by a response here on ePlaya, try to ignore it. There is a rampant sub-culture of snarky attempts at humor here at the moment, so don't take it personally. Remember, "His behavior is his problem, not mine."

Get used it to it, toots. By the end of the week you'll be pretty crusty too...
and maybe you'll survive your attempt at Cat-Herding, but my bets are on chaos and struggle. Good Luck. Bring Diazepam, lots of it, actually, bring some for me too, it takes the edge off of the really Hard stuff.
