I've heard people say not to bring anything you'd be concerned about losing.
I'm also getting a lock, though, and my friends who went last year didn't lose their bikes.
I think the tires are perfectly fine. One gear should be OK, though its nice if you can downshift. Last year it was exceptionally soft ground, hopefully that will be better this year.
The 'don't bring anything you'd mind losing' comment has two reasons. In the case of bikes, theft is one concern. Bringing a lock is a good idea. But the other concern is the wear and tear from the playa dust. The dust is very fine, like flour, and its corrosive.
If you clean the bike well after you come back it should be fine, but personally, I wouldn't take a good bike. Others do, though.
It goes for other things you take as well. The dust affects things. Some will never be the same again.
