Utter Cream Utter butter and other 'stuff'

Post by cincarus » Tue Apr 14, 2009 11:21 am

Hey what's the best thing to protect your skin from the ravages of the dust?

I did an experiment a few days ago...well we were bored and needed something to ahh entertain ourselves. So we were fiddling around with various creams and lotions. I found some yummy stuff at Walmart, it's an 'utter' or 'udder' cream. I think it's essentially the same stuff farmers spread on cows udders.

Is something like that a good thing to protect your parts that need protecting? :D

The one we tried actually felt really good and didn't leave a stinky smell.

Udder cream is awesome - apply liberally to washed feet and hands before bed, wear socks and gloves to sleep in (protects the sheets/sleeping bag), and you'll be golden!!

Udder cream in it's various iterations is AWESOME. It's the default moisturizer in my house.

The absorbent variety in the white container with black patches goes on hands, feet, whatever after washing and the greasy variety that comes in the green metal tub applied liberally before socks and shoes. When it's time to work, I put some on before gloves as well.

I've heard that the greasy variety magically repels playa dust... ymmv.

Aloe cream is really nice for an all over moisturizer too, and helps with the inevitable sunburn. A liberal amount applied to hands will eventually remove all traces of playa with sufficient rubbing, it makes those gross skin roll things and viola, happy hands!

AntiM often recommends Bag Balm. She says the playa doesn't seem to stick to it much. Neutrogena makes a great sunscreen in a spray that goes on very dry - making you look less like the Pillsbury Dough Boy if it's windy.

MyLarry gets chapped hands out there, as well as odd scrapes on his legs, and Bag Balm does the trick for him. Heals bleedy bits quickly. Personally, I can't stand it and use Oil of Olay and Gold Bond Foot Cream.

I just love that udder cream though. And I heard they have other kinds from other vendors too. I just thought for what it was meant for it would be REALLy great for feet.

The kind I used wasn't that sticky at all. That's why I thought it was cool.

No that stuff is great in a lot of places. I think it works better than a lot of other stuff.
