Technically you would never exceed your alloted EA numbers on Playa and still run a 24 hour operation.
Each pass can be used once and only once. I'm not sure, but I think there are names associated with the passes as well. Maybe not, I half remember not having to use my id.

Names are NOT linked to the early entry passes. That is done in the event there is a last minute change of plans, another person can be brought in for camp set up. However, the bar code is marked and the pass becomes useless on the second attempt. This is for theme camp early arrival. I am not certain about staff and large Playa projects early arrival lists.

Just received an email stating "All of the requests for Early Arrival Bar Code Passes have been processed."

We did not get everything we requested. I am still waiting to hear from our sister camp to see what they got. This is going to be very challenging. :(

I was curious about my staff early entry bar code as it did NOT have my name on it. I asked my project manager about that and was told that the Gate was not checking names, only the validity of the bar code, making ALL early entry passes universal.

I just received that email too. We carefully requested exactly what we needed in order to be set up by Monday. We got 3 of 7 passes requested.

We are traveling in 3 vehicles with all the materials for the camp. SO, at this point, either one RV goes in with 3 people and 1/3 of the materials, or three vehicles leave their passengers somewhere and the 3 drivers go in alone.

OR--does anyone have 4 extra passes????????????

Either way, we WILL be serving coffee on Genome and 9 o'clock! See ya there!

as soon as the temple is done and temple camp is moved from the build site to 2 and K, i'll start wandering around looking for people who need help setting up their camp. god knows i'll do anything for whippets.

<dupe>

Not completely conclusive yet, but the Black Rock Beacon may have only received half its requirement this year.

Somehow the four people coming down from WA with the printer and the four man setup crew from CA, the Middle East and Canada plus one spare driver are supposed to all fit into four passes.

4 / 9 = 0.4 p.p., remainder pissed and confused.

Looks like another clusterfuck in the making.

Does BMORG have an agent provocateur in its midst thinking up these disasters each year?

Maybe the 'punishment' of the participants is designed to create a black market for passes?

I will gladly trade you a hamburger for a pass today!

Keep in mind that once the bar code is scanned in it is then cancelled to prevent it from being used again.

Also, there seems to be a glitch in the email system where people who submitted email with a dash ( - ) in their names may have been bounced. The likelihood of that being THE reason for not getting passes is a small one but keep it in mind.

Good question.

Do they even do gate in/out coins for EATs ?

...and if so, how do they get them back in if thier code has already been deleted/scanned ?

How far north do ya have to go to get outside the BM exclusion zone on the playa??

Say all your plans were for early entry on Thursday, all monies paid for vehicle, arrivals by airplane, all non refundable. For example, EAT passes were not issued. And you decide to go camp on the playa anyway Thursday thru Sunday. How far north of the entrance road do you have to go to not get bothered by BLM rangers?

I too got that "all early arrival requests have been processed..." email.

So at this point we have 1/5th the passes (for a village) we requested and determined we would need to set up before Monday.

I dunno what'll happen next, but if that's what we get, then tah's what we get. We also would then be set up by, let's say Tuesday night at the earliest, prolly Weds.

No crying in the beer here, but that's reality folks!!!

Still waiting and wondering.

OK, the map shows public access via 12 mile road, camping about 6 miles up the track. 3mile road/trego road access, open south of the trego road.

Last year I camped on the west side of 12 but I was asked to travel about 5 miles up the track from where I was to be outside the BLM exclusion zone. Looks about the same as last year.

I camped in the wrong spot that Friday before the event. Saturday morning I was gifted some peach necter by a patrol. Later on, I was hired by perimeter to work the weekend and got early entry. This year my one day early pass got the kybosh, so I'm showing up Monday.

We used to go in early every year, but in 06 they turned us away so we went north maybe 2 miles and a BLM ranger sat in his pickup near us for at least 4 hours, and all night long they were driving by checking us out. I suggest you consider going a bit further away. Mayben out of sight 4 or 5 miles

As you can see from that great map OED put up you use the 12 mile access road here is a sign from this morning on that road.

We expect Pinemom is going to do just that- she's been our contact.

7 out of 8 of the theme camps of our village won't have any passes. The 8th will have half of what they need.

I'm sorry, but i really don't understand.

Aren't we the ones building the city? I mean, yeah, center camp and antarctica are cool and what not, but, uh, we're just going to do nothing?

Take turns?

How about this: We show up, like we planned, and go in. I mean, wtf over!

That's already happening. It's not gonna make a noticable dent tho.

Hey if this is some kinda glitch.... why wouldn't theysay so, like they do when there's a glitch for on-line tix sales?

Either way, I'm not sure this is all worth it next year.
