I love whitefish and yellow perch from the Great Lakes. I like wild salmon from either the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean. And I love sole almondine. I don't mind tuna or salmon for sandwiches. And I don't mind a nice little brook trout now and again.

But I like my fish cooked and not having the texture of rubber.

I don't know what it is about herring that turns me off but I think its the idea of eating it cold or pickled or whatever the Scandinavians do to it.

And I know you're Finnish and you probably love them but you can keep 'em, ygmir. I don't love you any less just because you eat cold fish! :D

The collective 'we' as used by people with tapeworms?

You lost me there.
I mean we as in car guys.
Use predated the end of mercury by some time, as mercedes became more dominant.

Forgive the faux pas on your heritage, ygmir. I guess I was going by one of your favourite drinks being from Finland. As usual, an assumption has made an ASS of me and I have no redeeming asslike qualities like our friend DaMule.

Nonetheless the sentiment about cold fish still stands! You can keep 'em.

Me? Me?

Only the government can create a revolution.
It was kind of amazing.
One line too far was crossed and there was a sudden consensus.
That was it.

The new forum has grown fivefold since I signed in and I was late to the party.
That's in less than a week.

Woa. Shambala is reading my mind again.

Yeah, come on people! - none of us are going to be happy until someone admits they were wrong!
(....... or someone gets beaten into submission.)

Maybe its like one of those fights on the playground with two kids going at it with a circle of kids around them. When one tries to back off, the other kids (very thoughtfully) push them back into the fray.

Here, I'll help:

JK, do you seriously think you never posted anything in your own words that sounds very offensive to women?

(OK, someone else give Barbie a little push...)

No, and if they found offense it was because they read what they wanted to read into the post, not what was actually in the post, which says a whole hell of a lot more about them than it does me. And additionally, based on the fact that I only quoted an article, they certainly directed their unwarranted anger in the wrong direction.

And regarding Barbitch...I have her blocked so I don't give a flying fuck what she says or does.

JK

that good enough for you dana?

Maybe it's this thought that sounds a tad offensive?

JK, so you know: (and as you said this may have been what you were after in the first place - to sort out a news story.)
The news story is really only just some interviews about attitudes. It doesn't reference actual statistical numbers. It looks like shitty journalism because of the implications. (which you seem to have extrapolated off of?)

Per my first post, there is no real way to know how often GHB has been used in rape cases. It has rapid onset (within minutes), it dissapears quickly (within a half hour for its half life), is metababolized to CO2 (and therefore quickly undetectable completely,) and is not part of a standard tox screen (therefore not looked for in the first place.)

An ER doc facing an intoxicated rape victim has only 2 serious medical concerns: the intoxication (which could compromise breathing/airways, etc.) and collecting the forensic evidence from the rape which could tie the perp to the crime. Once the woman's sensorium clears (as the GHB dissapears) they stop considering the intoxication and focus completely on the forensic evidence. So the ER doc will never even think to look for a drug like GHB in the first place, and has a very short window to do so if they even think of it in the first place.

So to call it an "urban myth" is a little absurd. It has been made illegal as of 1990, but prior to that time was widely available as a supplement for (for body building???!!!!)

Actually, it was. This study was highly publicized. I only put one link to one of the articles.

Now say something really controversial. ;)

jkisha wrote:I just saw a new report on rape and getting drugged. According to this report, women report getting dosed as the reason they were raped. It has now been discovered that the majority, if not all of these cases, there was no GHB or any other date rape drug involved other than alchohol.

The reason girls report that they were 'drugged' is that it is easier for them to use this as an excuse than to actually admit to themselves that they allowed themselves to drink to the point of intoxication that allowed them to be compromised.

This is in no way excusing the fact that the women were raped, whether it be under the influence of alcohol or ghb. It just sheds additional light on the situation.

JK

Haha ... I bet you arent an attractive blonde with legs upto her armpits and boobies the size of basketballs!

Dont you believe it sonny ... even an ugly chuffer like me has been spiked (I know about it because I was with freinds at the time, and they took care of me ... no way I'd drunk enough to behave in the way that I did - just a couple of drinks)

Sounds like you are believing propaganda spread by those who like to spike people.
