Ouch, ouch, ouch. Any idea who did it?

Back to the "why do we kill people to show people that killing people is bad?" question, isn't it

forgive me for taking a page out of arnie's book
unfortunately I feel
constrained at work by the
knowledge that it's possible to spy on me

One shooter dead, two in custody. They were in uniform, but no one has confirmed if they were actually soldiers.

Fuck, 12 dead and 31 wounded. Solider processing facility, so the dead are likely new recruits, troops shipping in or out from the Middle Eat, or soldiers separating from the service, or staff. So sad.

That's fucking awful.

I wonder if the person or persons were under some mental stress? From possible previous service?

I think that it's pretty much a given.

Of course, I can guess where you might be going with that.

Fuck. The shooter was a major in the Army, a mental health provider, so possibly a psychologist or psychiatrist. Malik Hasan... that he is either of Middle Eastern descent or a recent convert to Islam makes this all the more complicated. I hope he is not married with a family, this is going to be very hard on them. Fuck.

They're blathering about how he came to have a firearm. Phsshaw. It's Texas, the cattle are armed.

Here's what HuffPo has on the shooter.

WASHINGTON — Military officials say the suspected shooter at Fort Hood was a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to the Texas base in July.

The officials had access to Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's military record. They said he received a poor performance evaluation while at Walter Reed.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because military records are confidential.

The Virginia-born soldier was single with no children. He was 39 years old.
He is a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. At Walter Reed, he did his internship, residency and a fellowship.

(This version CORRECTS the suspect's name to Nidal Malik Hasan, not Malik Nadal Hasan.)

Fuck, a psychiatrist??? This just doesn't make any sense.

Moving to Texas makes people into violent gunmen? What could make more sense, Deb? Especially, if it's being forced to move to Texas.

(I know, I know, Captain Smashy and Dr. Jet Sinister are going to bleedin' kill me.)

My first BS is in psychology. I'd begun graduate school for family therapy/counseling and had to attend group therapy. I decided that while I could possibly assist fucking bat-shit crazy, I didn't want to listen to lazy fucks, dirtbags and sleazeballs. Too fucking depressing.

Fuck, it just occurred to me...if the shooter is still alive then maybe a motive will be revealed, in the course of time. This whole scenario just seems so far out of whack that something must have triggered this kind of reaction.

One of my friends is a psychiatrist at Walter Reed and knew him. She said he was quiet and reserved.

Stuff has come out that brass knew he had fucking problems...but you can't really fire someone if they haven't done anything wrong.

Unless of course you work in NY state where we have "at will" employment and we lay off people for no fucking reason (except the important reason that we're losing money...)

Pretty much the same as our playa camp rules, LOL. We might even be cajoled into an airport pick up and drop off if you don't want to rent your own car.

PM me for details. Really, Hawaii in January?
Hawaii, free, this is fucking happy news!

unjon, ziplock freezer bags make fuckin' great soup freezer containers. It's a little bit scary at first, but don't fill them too full. you can stack them too. I don't believe it is possible to make a little bit of soup.

Yeah, like listen to them say they don't want to go to Iraq for months on end and even have that statement on their personnel file. Then send them to Iraq anyway with a nice stopover in Texas just to boil their blood first. Fucking Christ Almighty. The army obviously had a death wish for this guy but what they underestimated was that he'd take some of them with 'im.
