Anyone interested, I have a diet that I call my "chicken and banana" diet. I lost about 12 pounds in a month on it and have stabilized at my new weight now for about 6 weeks with no feeling of food deprivation. Back at what I weighed in college over a half a century ago. Let me know and I will send it to you.

WB, where did you dig up that Tyrone Power photo. Dynamite! I don't even look that good in my best dreams, altho' my lovely tells me that I do. I guess that love is truly blind. A blessing
Hiya Marty

I love chicken and bananas. I will take your diet secret. Just need to lose a bit, not a huge amount.
As for the pic, Tyrone modeled for me. HeardnI was a great photographer :)

Wow Ygmir, quite the adventure. Glad everyone is ok. Very scary.

Last winter during the night a storm took out our bridge over a creek (river then) and we had to walk 1 1/2 miles through the snow for a month to get to our car, over 2 x 4's over the water. Crazy time. I ended up moving to a hotel for a week and hubby stayed with the animals.

Never will say I want a wild storm anymore. Used to love em, not now. Again, glad it worked out ok and it didnt last longer.

Hi Ygmir, glad to hear you're ok. Must have frozen your ass off. Good to have you back safe and somewhat sound.

Saw the movie "Me and Orson Wells" this evening and for those of us who remember the late 1930's and the music and cars of the time it is a wonderful movie. Wells did his most important stuff while in his 20's In later years did Gallo wine commercials with the line "We sell no wine before its time" I give this movie 5 stars

Have you seen all of his later films?
Quite impressive considering he did them with virtually no budget.

Gyre, Citizen Kane stands out in my mind, but now I plan to see some of his other work. As we used to say, this one was a "humdinger".

Good morning all. Hooray, another dry day today and so some tennis in the plan.

First, guess its my turn to put on the pot of coffee. You'll have to use your mind's eye to visualize, cause I really don't get posting all of those lucious pictures that you all so artfully post. But, hey, the coffee is quite good and generously poured.

Now to the "Chicken and Banana Diet" some of you asked me to post. First off, understand that the most important element is Portion Control. You must begin with the understanding that you need to reduce food intake by about 25% or so, depending upon you own "normal" intake. Second, for the period that you set aside to lose weight, you gotta eliminate high calorie substances like sodas, alcohol and other "empty" calorie foods and beverages. (I didn't say it would be easy)

Have a good breakfast. For me, a cup of OJ, dry cereal sprinkled with dry cranberries and fat free milk with a cup of coffee is very satisfying. For lunch, and dinners, grill boneless and skinless chicken thighs. You can use a BBQ sauce, but not too heavy as they contain a rather high salt content. So, for lunch I have one of these chicken morsels and when I get hungry about two or three hours later, I have a banana. My snacks have morphed from Snickers Bars to bananas or apples. While boring, dinner is a repeat of lunch. I also find that non-fat sour cream on non fat cottage cheese or bananas or blueberries are also satisfying snacks. Once you get down to your target weight and you have succeeded in not becoming a raving maniac out of the boredom from all of this spartan fare, you can begin to once again introduce treats to your diet. For me, it is non fat choclate puddings, frozen fruit bars and fudge bars and even Oreo cookies. I now also have a glass of wine or an occasional beer with dinner. I do weigh myself each morning to monitor my weight and if I go up a bit to the high end of my target range, I act accordingly and see the result the following morning. It may all sound dreadfully boring, but for me it did work. Side benefits, I have stopped snoring I am told, my blood pressure and chloesterol are down and I am now getting to balls on the tennis court that I formerly could not reach. Willie says I look like that guy in the photo that Wine Buff posted the other day, but she is undoubtedly wearing rose colored glasses.

Other than this diet, I am really quite a normal fellow and promise not to seek converts. Live and let live is one of my many mottos.

Now, back to that coffee.

Have a great day, all

Pinemom, you could almost call it an early celebration then.
Morning. Thanks for the coffee Marty.
I'm going to take the twenty thirty minutes this morning and make some steel cut oats, with raisins. Nutritionally identical to rolled oats, but a whole different texture. I like a splash of syrup on mine, and omit the spices. Let it cool, and it cuts like brownies to chill and reheat later for a quick quick breakfast. to be honest, I can eat it cold too.

no you're right. It is hard to take a good picture of oatmeal. It's a hard sell even to myself. So... it's only pictures right?

Had a great day exploring Cabela's yesterday in Boise. Happy Sunday and thx Marty for the tips. May start tomorrow :) Need alcohol here to cope with hyper kiddy, lol

Going to see Avatar this morning in IMAX 3D, saw it last week in 3d, great... but I want more BOOM BOOM BOOM! Also it will be a chance to compare the 3D systems, saw it with Dolby glasses last weekend, and my local has something different, realD or something. Wonder if it makes any difference.
Manny, Moe and Jack were each in front of a storefront of the old local hot dog chain "Doggie Diner." So that's the one and only size they came in. (Okay, there may have been give away novelties for children, but you know.) There is only one of these left in situ, across from the entrance to the San Francisco Zoo. When that one suffered a nose injury, they were able to make a cast from one of John Law's and fix it.

Mornin crew! Coffee.

Went to this new lil restaurant for breakfast yesterday called The Junkyard. Good homestyle food, but more importantly the decor was fabulous. The whole place was decorated with junk. I saw no less than 10 things that immediately shouted out 'PLAYA STUFF'. I'll take a few pictures next time I go.

No, you are not confused. You are simply aware of John Law's name source. What would you have named them, Larry, Curly and Moe?
