Gyre, Citizen Kane stands out in my mind, but now I plan to see some of his other work. As we used to say, this one was a "humdinger".
Good morning all. Hooray, another dry day today and so some tennis in the plan.
First, guess its my turn to put on the pot of coffee. You'll have to use your mind's eye to visualize, cause I really don't get posting all of those lucious pictures that you all so artfully post. But, hey, the coffee is quite good and generously poured.
Now to the "Chicken and Banana Diet" some of you asked me to post. First off, understand that the most important element is Portion Control. You must begin with the understanding that you need to reduce food intake by about 25% or so, depending upon you own "normal" intake. Second, for the period that you set aside to lose weight, you gotta eliminate high calorie substances like sodas, alcohol and other "empty" calorie foods and beverages. (I didn't say it would be easy)
Have a good breakfast. For me, a cup of OJ, dry cereal sprinkled with dry cranberries and fat free milk with a cup of coffee is very satisfying. For lunch, and dinners, grill boneless and skinless chicken thighs. You can use a BBQ sauce, but not too heavy as they contain a rather high salt content. So, for lunch I have one of these chicken morsels and when I get hungry about two or three hours later, I have a banana. My snacks have morphed from Snickers Bars to bananas or apples. While boring, dinner is a repeat of lunch. I also find that non-fat sour cream on non fat cottage cheese or bananas or blueberries are also satisfying snacks. Once you get down to your target weight and you have succeeded in not becoming a raving maniac out of the boredom from all of this spartan fare, you can begin to once again introduce treats to your diet. For me, it is non fat choclate puddings, frozen fruit bars and fudge bars and even Oreo cookies. I now also have a glass of wine or an occasional beer with dinner. I do weigh myself each morning to monitor my weight and if I go up a bit to the high end of my target range, I act accordingly and see the result the following morning. It may all sound dreadfully boring, but for me it did work. Side benefits, I have stopped snoring I am told, my blood pressure and chloesterol are down and I am now getting to balls on the tennis court that I formerly could not reach. Willie says I look like that guy in the photo that Wine Buff posted the other day, but she is undoubtedly wearing rose colored glasses.
Other than this diet, I am really quite a normal fellow and promise not to seek converts. Live and let live is one of my many mottos.
Now, back to that coffee.
Have a great day, all
