Finished one Gator/boot decoration; the other will take me another hour or so tomorrow. Then on to decorating the Camelbak & constructing some nice, soft, padded strap covers...

Extra padded strap is a good idea for the Camelbak! Why didn't I think of that!

Glad to help. Someone was talking about being scraped up so much by his Camelbak straps that he was bleeding and still has scars. Seemed preventable. :D

I tested the glow in the dark paint from http://www.readysetglo.com/ last night. I painted one of my tape measures with the stuff.

excellent results. I 'charged' the paint for about 20 minutes under a normal incandescent light in my basement. It was still glowing this morning about 12 hours later. Not quite as bright as initially, but still visible in the dark.

Last night was "hell" night on constructing our 20'x30' shade structure...had to measure and hand cut over twenty-five 1" emt poles. The freaking thing better fit together tonight! My mantra is "it's all worth it in the end!"

Next weekend: reconstruction of our art car...

Found an incredible store/resource in Santa Barbara called Art From Scrap. Got gently used catering tablecloths for $2 each.

MyLarry got the wooden transport box/table made for the new camp stove/oven. I got the dustcover cozy made for the stove out of old denim scraps from jeans he's worn out over the years. Not my best work, but functional. I do need to paint the box.

I simply haven't got my art studio up and running. I'm going to be bitching come the end of July!

Dust cover for the stove--what a great idea! I never thought of that. Thanks, AntiM!

I made them my first year for my coolers and it has been one of my best ideas ever. Training the camp mates to put them back on has been a struggle at times! It only takes a second to whip them on or off, and it makes a world of difference in keeping the coolers cool and in cleaning the stove later.

I was planning to make them for the coolers--already bought the fabric. But never thought of the stove... :D My boot toppers came out AWESOME, though--and even have red LED lights! Just have to solder one of the wires back in place (darned cheap lights from Hong Kong...).

Last night my wife bought home a large pink umbrella for me to use for shade while walking.

Gifted a ticket, how cool!

I just finished sewing Velcro onto a vest for my sweetie, and adding 3 panels of sound-activated flames (removed from some t-shirts on eBay). Way cool! I glued glow-in-the-dark dots on my overjacket & painted some glow-in-the-dark flowers on one side. Once that paint dries (it's slow!), I'll paint the other side and then add El-wire. But not tonight :D

Got our 20x30 shade structure up and it works perfectly! Yahoo!!!! Looking for a new cover, perhaps canvas ($$$ ouch) instead of poly...Poly doesn't last but one week. Anybody know of an outlet for inexpensive canvas tarps? Burn on!

Folding Bikes

Post by EmilyD » Mon Mar 29, 2010 5:09 pm

We test rode some good folding bikes yesterday. I think are going to work perfectly for our packing situation.

Today I got me and the mister a couple of these kick ass flashlights:

http://www.baycoproducts.com/consumer/LEDs.html

They have them on Amazon but I got ours at the local Ace Hardware.

Figjam, thanks for the reply but I already used my crowbar and extracted the cash out of my wallet and paid for a new canvas tarp and they threw in 50 ball bungees for free. Very stoked!

Brought home another free piano; Playa Piano #3, a Shumann & Sons upright. Some key-tops are gone, but the action seems to work well, and it's even in decent tune (for our purpose). Upper sustain is stuck -- should be easy fix. Come play it in Kantina Apokiliptika.

It's beautiful Elliot. (Although I first saw the photo and flashed to a long arc and crash image in my mind. ) Whew, sort of relief to hear that it is for playing (some at any rate)

I always wondered if it was a myth that they put tacks on the hammers of the honky tonk pianos to make them sound that way. Anyone remember Big Tiny Little?

:D
As of today, this Shumann probably replaces the Royal for Kantina Apokiliptika. That means the Royal becomes available for Piano Wind Chime, Piano Demolition Derby, or such.

Then I'm scheduled to pick up Piano #4 tomorrow. So as of tomorrow night, we should have two pianos for glockenspiel duties.
